October 2012 Weddings

Anyone doing favors/activities for kids?

Keep in mind the "reception" is at my home, but this is what I have gathered so far:

mini beach balls
bubbles
wedding placemats with games on it
crayons
glow in the dark bracelets
puzzles

Re: Anyone doing favors/activities for kids?

  • Our flower girl (who is five) will be the only very young kid at our wedding.  There are three other "kids," but they are 13 and over.  I was thinking about doing a coloring book & crayons for our FG, but I am interested to see what other people are planning!

  • We only expect a few kids under 12 (those over 12 all have jobs to do to help out with the wedding). I found some great Gnomeo & Juliet activity books online (we have a gnome theme going on) and will get some crayongs and stickers to go with them. I also think I'm going to have a separate table for kids activities (but have them eat with their families).
Just my two cents! Penny L G M
  • Not doing them. We won't have a whole lot of little kids there...and most that do come will leave early with grandma and the parents will hang out. We only invited children of family members.

  • We will have probably around 10 kids so I am doing coloring books and play-doh for each....maybe some stickers too.

  • We will have coloring books and crayons available for the kids, possibly a few more activities too.  I'm also seriously considering putting these things on a table in the corner in the reception so they have a place to use them during the reception away from the dance floor.
  • If they all rsvp yes, we will have about 10 kids under the age of 12. FMIL said she will take care of the goodie bags for them, she is the dollar store queen! I imagine there will be crayons/colouring books, and other various toys for them. I'm leaving it up to her.

  • I made up a few wedding colouring books...
we have only like 5 kids there...

and we are bringing my sons LEGO bin... although FI says thats where him and his buddies will be... playing with the lego... chasing each other around the venue with LEGO guns etc LOL

that will make for great photo opts LOL!

our venue offers a seperate room for the kids etc, they have a tv and DVD as well... we arranged for two of the older cousins to babysit, they are on alternating hours so they can still enjoy the reception/dancing etc.
  • We are doing a raffle...so far just for kids, but I am guessing we will extend it to adults!  You get a card with your place setting and fill it out and drop it in the box in front of the toy/prize you'd like to win, then the DJ picks out the winner from each box at some point.  We will have consolation prizes for the little, little kids....

Thinking of adding adults with bottles of wine, lotto tix, etc as prizes...

We are also considering butcher paper and crayons at the kids' table and other things.  Even their centerpiece is going to be made of lollipops.
