October 2012 Weddings

I know I should know this, but...

What exactly does the M mean on RSVP cards? It's really somewhat confusing to me. I believe it's where you begin writing 'Mr, Mrs, Miss' followed by the names of who is attending, but it really just seems somewhat confusing and not straightforward for those not familiar with the M. Am I alone in feeling this way??!!

The traditional M______________________________ is so that you can fill in your name and the name of your spouse/SO/Guest as you like to be called. It's supposed to help the bride be able to do the escort/place cards correctly.

So the guest just fills in the rest of Mrs. Ms. Miss. or Mr. however the they prefer to be called.

  • achiduck is right. However, I'm with you about it seeming confusing. I didn't know that until I started RSVPing to weddings. I had to call my mom and ask what it was.
