Thumbprint tree plus ???? for a guestbook

I'm doing a thumbprint tree guest book where they will ink their finger to make the leaf on the tree & sign their name (dont' worry, wetnaps are immediately available).  I love it, but I can't get over the feeling that some people would want to leave a personal message too.  I was thinking of doing something like a wishing well or wish tree....or just something they could leave a message on, maybe like these:

Does it seem like overkill?  Am I overthinking that people will actually want to write a message to us??

Personally, I don't like the thumbprint thing.  FI and I just went to a wedding that had one, and he couldn't get the ink off of his thumb (I made him do it because I didn't want to get ink on my dress).  Since he couldn't get the ink off, he was afraid to touch anything after because he didn't want to get green thumbprints everywhere.

I know some people love the thumbprint guestbook, so to each their own : )

I did a thumprint book at a weddind and my advice is provide wet wipes! also, if you think some guests won't want to leave a print anyways you can always make your own prints in say, red.  then let all the guests use yellow ink and haeva  little sign saying "please stamp your thumb and leave us a note.  if you don't want to use your own print feel free to sign your name above a red leaf"

Yes, we would have appreciated another option.  I like what christina suggested above : )

Definitely provide the wet wipes...the wedding we went to did not, and even though FI went to the bathroom to wash his hands soon after he signed, the ink would not come off.  Maybe if he had gotten to it more quicly with a wet wipe it would have???

As I said, baby wipes are going to be handed to them immediately by the DOC.  Thanks for the opinion!

Oh I hate when that happens & don't know why.

Yep we will have baby wipes.  I was thinking of having paper leaves for ppl to write messages on and that was what I was hoping to get people's opinions on.
