Opinions on our favor idea please

We're having a rustic fall wedding- clambake dinner, girls (and bride) in cowboy boots, mason jar candles, baby's breath for flowers etc.  I was planning on doing a smores bar towards the end of the evening on the stone patio of our venue.  Would it be really odd to package up the smores parts with a note saying "Thanks for joining us!  We'd love to see you s'more at the s'mores bar." or something cute like that as the favor?  I'm a little worried people will think it's funny to use the favor at the reception.

My mom was suggesting individual sized pies as the favor and still using the smores as a late night snack, because favors are supposed to be taken home.  Although I do love that idea, it could get very pricey with the size of our guest list.

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  • I love the idea!  I think its really cute & honestly most weddings I've been too I don't even remember what the favors were, this I would remember.

  • I love this idea! As far as people "using" the favor at the reception. It's the same as doing an edible favor. Most people eat edible favors that same night. Go for it!

  • A bridal shower I attended had s'mores makings as the favor with a cute poem. They included enough to make two s'mores: two whole graham crackers, four marshmallows, and about 8 Hershey bricks (enough to cover two graham cracker halves, so about a whole bar?). It was a great idea, very memorable, and if you guests choose not to use them at the s'mores bar, they can take them home and make them later. Honestly if I get chocolate or something small and edible at a reception as a favor, I usually eat it there.
  • sounds great!!
  • I think it's cute. Honestly, I usually end up eating edible favors at the wedding anyway, ha ha.

  • We went to a wedding at the beginning of August and they had a s'mores bar. I loved it! Seriously, I went back three times.

However, a lot of other guests didn't partake. Not sure if they just didn't realize it was there or if they just don't like s'mores (but who doesn't like s'mores??).

  • Mmmmm....now I want smores :)

I think it's a great idea. Can't imagine anyone being miffed that they didn't get to take a favor home when it's something as good as chocolate, marshmallow, and graham cracker.

  • Thanks everyone.  I'll try to convince my mom that we'd be ok with the original plan.  She's heard "I saw on The Knot Boards" more than a few times Smile

We are giving s'mores as our favors too!

Our tags say "sending you s'more love"

    I've also seen:
Take s'more love home with you
    Enjoy s'more love
    S'mores y'all!
Take home s'more fun (or you could insert love here instead. Kinda similar to the first one.)

I think encouraging people to take extras home with them is a great idea. They might need a sugar boost on the ride home!

    Hope this helps!
