October 2012 Weddings

What to wear...

FI and I have a busy busy weekend.  We leave home (outside Albany) on Thursday, have a rehearsal dinner in Buffalo, a wedding Friday night also in Buffalo and then a wedding Saturday in NYC.  We are driving out to Buffalo on Thursday with FI's parents and then flying to NYC on Saturday.  Saturday evening, we have another wedding.  We come home on Sunday with my parents (who will be in NYC for the wedding as well).

I'm stressed about what to wear to the weddings.  I have a ton of dresses and I think that is causing more stress than normal!  I usually only have 1 or 2 dresses to pick from!  Now, I have three events that need dresses and 5 dresses I can wear.

The first event is the rehearsal. FI will wear dress slacks and a dress shirt (possibly a tie). I was thinking this dress.

 Kind of hard to see.

I also have this one, which is my second choice.

Next is the wedding.  It is a 5:30 wedding in a hotel/mansion in Buffalo.  FI is the best man and the guys are wearing navy blue two button suits with (I believe) pink shirts.  I am not sure what the girls are wearing but I'd guess its either pink or navy.  I want to wear this dress, but should I avoid blue since I know the guys and possibly the girls are wearing it?  I think its okay because it has other colors.

The next wedding is a 5:15 wedding in a park/restaurant in NYC.  Its reportedly, casual, but at the same time, I've been told NYC casual is different then Upstate casual.  FI is going to wear his charcoal suit.  That way, he can always remove his jacket if he is too formal.  I was thinking of this dress.

I also have this one.

So I have three options for the two weddings and two options for the one rehearsal.  I can interchange which goes for which.  Any opinions?

Having a wedding coming up isn't helping.  I know there are cues in the invitations on how you should dress but these are both pretty benign.  I know my wedding is more formal and my invitations absolutely reflect that (inner/outer envelopes, calligraphy, etc) but these are both "casual" looking invitations, but they are also both evening weddings!

HELP!

Re: What to wear...

  • I think the Dress Barn option is a better bet for the NYC one. It's too hard to see the first dress in the darker photo to get an idea for the rehearsal, so you're guess is as good as ours!

  • That's kind of the direction I was heading.  The black and white one I have for the second wedding, I actually work for a wedding last year and didn't really want to repeat the outfit (silly though, since no one is going to be there that was at the other one).
  • Ha, I generally only repeat in the same year if there's little to no guest list overlap.
