Wedding Dress BM Dresses

My girls and I went to try in our dresses Friday while I was in town. My girls looked stunning and my dress was just so pretty. It was so white and just stunning. It was a lot of fun. Our dress fittings isn't until next month though, kind of weird and late to me, but they said it will be fine. I hope so. Oh! My dress fit perfect, and my new boobs filled the empty space up top! Haha it looked awesome!!

How are you girls doing about fittings and your dresses?

Re: Wedding Dress BM Dresses

  • That sounds like a lot of fun!  My first fitting isn't until Sept 8th, but the lady who is doing mine is a family friend and said it won't take her long to do the alterations.  I'm anxious to get it done though!

  • Fishin- how are your new boobs healing? are they perking up < my coworkers took forever to perk up... seriously it looked like she had an armour vest on for about 3/4 months ... i think they messed something up!! BUT NOW they look amazing!!!!> ?
  • Had my first fitting - CANNOT wait for the next fitting - it should fit perfect - still waiting for the JR bridesmaid dress to come in - it was made incorrectly by the desinger - MOH and Flower girl dresses have been picked up - and other MOH is waiting for some more baby weight to come off - So it will be exciting to see all together on the big day!!  :)

  • Bah. My BM who has been complaining about EVERYTHING got her dress today. It needs to be taken in from top to bottom. And is "2 inches too short."

She was super gung ho at first saying she'd wear whatever I wanted her to wear. Then she showed up to the dress shopping 45 minutes late after all the other girls had already tried on quite a few dresses. The dress we picked was the only one she said she liked. Then I heard she started questioning the length (knee length) as soon as I walked to the other side of the store to try on my dress that had come in. (Heard that from another BM.) She's 6ft tall, plus maybe a few inches, so I understand her concern about the length. She did have them add 4 inches. She says her legs aren't good enough for it to be 2 inches short. The hem is not really a bubble hem, but it does fold under - not cut straight across. I'm really not sure what to tell her besides talk to her seamstress. It's not my fault that an extra 4 inches is too short, though I know it's not her fault she's tall. I just feel like she should have spoke up when the dress was first picked out.

LIke I said this isn't the first thing she's complained about so maybe I should just let it roll off my back. But honestly I'm at the point where she could drop out of the wedding and I'd actually be happier. I hate saying that about one of my best friends, but enough is enough.
  • My fittings are going well. I've had two now and I got pick it up on the 31st. The seamstress didn't have to do too much - just do the hem, bustle and take in the bust about 3 inches, although with all the beading that's been a lot of work for her. But it's looking great.

Three out of four of the BM's are using the mom of a friend of mine (she's done BM and wedding gowns before - did her daughter's) and the fourth is finding her own seamstress.

  • I dont have my first until this Saturday, but I'm super excited!! I should hopefully only need cups put in, a hem, and the bustle. There is a chance they have to move the panel in my dress, but I'm hoping they can wait to decide that until a second fitting! One of my BM dresses is in, but the other 4 won't be in until probably late September, which is gonna make me sweat!

  • I don't think next month is too late for your first fitting, especially if there is not much to do.

We will all be getting our dresses altered at different places.  Mine will be altered at the shop where I purchased mine.  The girls got their dresses at DB but ordered them from different ones, one in NY City, one in Syracuse and one near Albany. My friend in NYC is finding someone out there to do hers, bc she thinks that DB is too expensive; my Syracuse friend I think is just doing it there;  my sister is getting hers hemmed by a friend of my moms in my mom's town.  I am a little concerned that they will look different in the rouching depending on who alters it but it is out of my control.
