Re: QOTD 4/19

  • We haven't gotten quite that far yet. I want something fun and dance-y, but still appropriate. FI wants old-school Sinatra or something. We're still deciding on who's going to win this one.

  • We have not... and I really am not even sure what we would pick. We've kind of put wedding talk on hold til I am done with school for the summer. Then we'll hit it hard again. No fun but I know if I am thinking wedding I will never get anything school related done!!
  • We haven't decided the exact songs but we're doing a Metallica medley.  This is the one thing FI is most excited about for the wedding lol so I may just let him run with it.

  • Not sure... we have a live band so we'll be talking to them in a few months about some options.

  • Nope, we've picked out first dance and parent dances but as for entrance, cake, bouquet toss, etc songs I have yet to sort those out.

  • We have (or mostly, I have) a hard time with picking music. I like so many songs and so I change my mind all the time. FI doesn't really care.

We thought about walking in to "We Are Young" by Fun. We'll see . . .

  • FI begged me to use the Imperial March from Star Wars as our reception intro and I conceded. I'm thinking of having the wedding party walk in to the main title from Star Wars, and then switch over to the march for us. His groomsmen want to do a sword arch with lightsabers. We're nerds, LOL.

  • We have not. It's a big concern of mine, to be dramatic, ha. I'm really shy and the idea of entering in to something clubby or whatever and having people clapping and whatnot makes me break out in hives just thinking about it, BUT it's FI's favorite part, so we're trying to find a compromise. Ideally, something sweet but that's not going to feel like we're being introduced at the start of a game at Madison Square Garden, you know? Aaah, the whole thing freaks me out so bad that I'm getting nervous just typing this question, ha!

  • pockysquirrel, that's awesome, ha! FI's more a Trekkie, so I wonder if we should think of something that would work that way?...

  • No not yet and i have no idea yet what we want to do, FI is better with music than I am so I may just let him pick, all we have is our 1st dance song for right now...

I was also thinking "I got a feeling " for the bridal party!  Haven't come up with something for us just yet but something fun and upbeat :-)

  • I kind of want the intro song to be a popular top 40ish type song at the time of the wedding.  So I'll probably wait until September/October, see what new songs are out, and choose from those!

Ooh. That's not a bad idea. A couple of the Trek themes are pretty epic...I'm thinking especially the Next Generation theme would make awesome entrance music, but then I'm biased because that one's my favorite. Do you know which his favorite series is.

  • This has been the hardest part of wedding planning by far! We have kind of settled on 80's soundtrack music like from The Breakfast or the Goonies. We were going to do horror movie themes, but I don't want to freak too many people out.

We are walking into the Black Keys - Howlin for you. They are one of our favorite bands and our first concert together.

Not sure what we will have for the BP yet, since its just 3 kids I'm not sure what we will do.

  • WP - not 100% sure yet but we're pretty sure it's going to be "with a little help from my friends" by the Beatles.

Our song is "all you need is love" by the Beatles.

Not sure if we want two beatles songs, because my dad and I may be dancing to a beatles song as well BUTTTT.......we are huge beatle lovers (as is my parents and fi's as well)

Could be too much, but then again, who DOESN'T like the Beatles?!

<div>I don't know if we're going to use it for the whole BP and us or just us, but we're coming in to the Throne Room Theme from Star Wars.  I really want FI and I to be coming in while it still has some of the fanfare.  If we have everyone come into the same song there's a chance that the fanfare part will be done by the time we come in.  Looks like I'll need to think about this some more.</div><div>
</div><div>On the bolded part, I wanted to get Lightsabers for the GM but my mom (pretty traditional) really didn't like that idea.  Maybe we'll get them and just not tell her :p  Yay nerds and geeks!</div><div>
    </div><div>ETA:
lech-There's some great music in the Star Trek Series.  The newest Star Trek (the reboot) is one of my favorite soundtracks. I recommend you listen to some of the tracks from it especially 5-Enterprising Young Men (there are a few good parts of it that would be good for you or BP) 11-Nero Fiddles, Narada Burns (its got some musical themes that appear in 5) and of course 14-To Boldly Go, which is an intro to 15-The End Credits which is the traditional Star Trek theme. Though it does go into musical themes from other parts of the soundtrack as it progresses.  Find a way to listen to the soundtrack apart from watching the movie (if you're watching, usually you don't concentrate on the music).  If you need PM me your address and I'll loan you my copy.</div>

  • Our entrance song will be "Darkest Day" from the Independence Day soundtrack. It's kind of dark and Halloween-y (we're big Halloween people), but the real reason is because a 1 minute clip of it used to be the lift hill music from The Beast, which is a roller coaster that has a lot of sentimental meaning to us. We're hoping to work out the timing of it so that's the clip playing as we enter. It's pretty far into the song so we think we can make it work for BP and us!

Our head table is going to be named The Beast too - all our tables will be named after coasters and the table "number' cards will have a picture of the coaster as well.
