FI is looking for tuxes

I told Fi that since he wasn't going to see what I was wearing before the wedding, I didn't want to see what he was wearing before the wedding.  Therefore, he needed to pick out his own wardrobe for the day of.  He's just now looking at tuxes (we're 10/13) and now he wants my help.  I haven't even been looking at what grooms and groomsmen wear.  So now he's asking what colors should he wear, and what color ties etc etc.  I haven't even given it one thought.

Re: FI is looking for tuxes

  • there's still time, its okay.

maybe you can pick some options for tuxes you like from a  few different stores in your area.
what colour are your BM dresses?

Try not to panic. When it comes to renting tuxes, you still have plenty of time to make this decision (at least from my experience). FWIW, my FI is wearing a black tux, white shirt, and platinum vest/tie. GM are wearing black tux, white shirt, and navy vest/tie.

  • My girls are in like a cobalt/sapphire blue.  And then bright orange is our accents (mostly in the flowers).  Do they need to wear vests?  Ties?  Bowties?
And thanks for the "still time" comment.  Makes me feel a little less anxious.  It was more just another thing to add to the already full plate I have.
  • I would suggest going to the tux store and having an associate help you put together different looks and see what you and your FI like best. That's what we did. It was very helpful.

  • I agree with achi. Our tux shop let FI try on all the vest/ties/tuxes in whatever combination until we were happy. They even ordered our decisions so we could see what they looked like when they fit right.

  • FI is the only one wearing a vest at our wedding. He is wearing a pewter vest with pewter & black tie, GM's are wearing the same tie, just with navy and black, my dad is wearing the ivor & white version of the tie. I'd get on it, though! Men's Wearhouse told us there would be late fees if the GM's go in less than a month ahead of time.

  • You could have their accent color be blue or orange, quite successfully. I agree with having an associate play with the options available. We didn't go with tuxes, but I did stop in and flip through the book so I would know what to expect if we did!

  • I just checked Men's Wearhouse and confirmed that there's no late fee as long as it's 14 days before the wedding (whew, FI has his tux visit planned for Saturday, 4 weeks before our wedding). If you got your dresses at David's, they can coordinate to make sure everything matches.

I'm with you on having him make the decision about his wedding attire. I had my FI go pick out his when I went dress shopping. I only know the color. The rest will be a surprise at the ceremony.

Just my two cents! Penny L G M
