A "Hairy" Situation

Good morning ladies!  Sorry about the topic title - I couldn't resist the pun. I am having my first hair consultation (late, I know!) with the stylist who will be doing all the hair for wedding day.  I am in a panic. I have always kept my hair short (pixie cut, mostly) but have started growing it out.  At the moment, it is a chin length bob with a lot of texture.  I have very thick hair, so there have to be layers unless I want to look like I'm wearing a hair helmet.

That being said, what can I do with my hair on wedding day to ensure that it looks "formal" and "bridal", rather than "Oh. Good. Jenna washed her hair for her wedding"?  I cannot, for the life of me, find many photos of brides with short hair.  Any tips? Ideas? Photos? I'm at a total loss.

Have you looked at Pintrest at all or done a Google image search?  I would look now, but I'm at work.  

I think the biggest thing is going to be whatever accessory you wear in your hair that will make it bridal - there really is not a lot that you can do with a bob, especially a heavily layered bob.  I would also ask your stylist if she has an experience with short haired brides or if she has any recommendations.

my hair is about jaw length and i had mine all curled.  i have seen some "faux updos" for short hair but haven't found any tutorials...do you have bangs? you could always sweep your bangs back adn hold them in place with a pretty hair band.  I've got a board on Pinterest of short  hair ideas...click here!  i think you could easily add a clip or pin to the side of your hair with any of these styles.  i also have a Wedding Ideas board that shows the inspiration for my hair.

ps-i may or may not wear a hair clip, but i'm not too worried about it.

It would be easier to look for photo ideas if I knew exactly what your hair looked like and what style you may want..down, up, half up..etc. Lots CAN be done with short hair if your stylist knows what they are doing. I had my hair "up" when I was in a friends wedding and it was just chin length.. Here is a photo from homecoming where she did my hair the exact same because it was still that length. And this was the cut and length roughly... HTH

My hair is chin length and curly. I'm actually going today to get it trimmed and possibly dying/hightlighting it.

I think with shorter hair accessories make all the difference. I have a big feather/flower thing I'm wearing behind one of my ears. My hair will be down and curled loosely. One side will be pinned back behind my ear and that's where the flower will go.

If you aren't in to flowers you could do a headband or hair comb.

I usually have shorter hair and mine is VERY thick too.  I would talk to your stylist.  She may actually recommend you thin it out like normal because if it isn't long enough to pull back, then once you curl it, it will get crazy big.  At least mine does!!  I've been growing mine out to my shoulders now, and with my first trial, she still had trouble getting it all up.  I didn't like it.  I agree you should start looking at Pinterest and seeing if there is a cute way to pin back your curls with a bridal piece.

i thought that was going to happen with mine because my hair is also thick, but it didn't!  she made pin curls with bobby pins and fluffed them once the curls were made.  a good stylist will know what to do!

You guys are the best!  Now I have some great ideas and inspiration.  I already have my hair clip and my veil, which I think will help dictate what the rest of the style should look like.  I'll keep you all posted!
