Worth a Shot or Lame idea?

I've seen on Pinterest that if you send Mickey and Minnie Mouse a wedding invitation they'll send you a signed photo. That's cute and all but I don't really want a signed photo from Mickey and Minnie. FI and I are, however, HUGE Steelers' fans. I've been (unsuccesfully) trying to figure out how to go to the SNF game in Cincinnati on the 21st

I had this idea last night and I can't decide if iit's worth a shot or just lame. What if I mail an invitation addressed to Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers? I don't expect them to come (it'd be freaking awesome though if even one showed up since the wedding is only a couple hours north of Cinci) but I'm kinda hoping maybe they would send a team photo or something. What do you think? Go for it or forget it?

  • Worth a shot! Even if they don't send you anything, you can't say you didn't try.
  • Heck just send them a letter telling them that your FI is a huge fan and would love it if you could get a signed photo from them or a letter on letterhead wishing him congrats on his big day that you could present to him as a wedding gift. You've got nothing to lose & if they come through you will earn huge wife points
  • Go for it....you have my wheels turning!!!  We are huge KC Chiefs fans..I was originally going to try to plan us going to a game that weekend and then honeymoon from there...wasn't going to work...but then it turned out to be our bye week!  I'm totally going to send one....thats so cool....not lame at all!!!  We love football!!!!!  So glad when the wedding is over....football will be on!!!!!  Good stress releiver!!!!

</div><div>This! I think its definitely worth a shot! Maybe send an invitation with a letter stating that you are aware they probably won't be able to come, but some sort of keepsake would be awesome.</div><div>

  • OMG! What a good idea!   I am a GIANT Bear's fan! FI proposed to me and gave me the tickets to a huge game the next day (idk what I was more excited about haha just kidding of course)  Our last song is going to be Bear Down.  Since our wedding is goign to be downtown Chicago that's an AMAZING idea!

On a side note FI is a huge fan of Warren Buffet and I threw him on the invite list just to joke with FI (who did all of our calligraphy!) We didn't send him one, but I kind of wish we had.
  • It's worth a shot if you have extra invites laying around.

  • Worth a shot for sure!!! It's true too that if you send an invitation to the White House, you'll get a signed response back from the President's office. I can't remember if it was a real or copied signature but it was still cool.

  • Oooh that's a good idea. I may have to send on to the Steelers and the Seahawks insert embarrassed font here. FI is the Seahawks fan. Just putting that out there. Or maybe we should send one to the president of Nintendo.

We're sending an invitation to Anthony Munoz (old Bengal from the 70s and 80s).  FI and I met at an event he was holding.  We're planning on inviting him and expecting a no show... but who knows!
  • We sent Mickey and Minnie an invite too...it's one of the things I've been looking forward to! the Signed post card is on my fridge! I say definitely go for it.. it never hurts to try! And the front office staff might think it's a cute idea and go above and beyond to get it done for you.. you never know!  Also might help to follow up with someone in the front office. They usually have staff listings on the websites.
