Re: Happy Monday!

  • Well, We didn't do anything. lol.

WR: We are almost done with our picture frames! YAY! Can't wait to see this project done. I am almost finished with addressing my invites as well. This weekend begins our final payments to our vendors with the first one being our photographer, yikes. It hurts a little to hand over a 2k check!

NWR: Nothing is going on. My FI & I are going to the NFL Football draft on Thursday, then my friends and I are going our dancing on Friday night. That is pretty much it.

Hope everyone has a really good week!

  • I posted all about my weekend in my dress thread, so I won't recap here :)

WR this week: meeting with the restaurant where our RD is being held to go over the menu. I also have to talk with my dad about invites for the RD. FI and I really should get crackin on the template for our escort cards too, maybe we'll do that when we have some down time this weekend.

NWR: nothing really out of the ordinary.
    Photobucket
  • I am pretty much the most boring person ever! but that is ok because this was my last week for awhile that I have nothing planned.

So Friday night I went to Panera for dinner with my sister and then headed home to work on some invitation stuff.

Saturday I went shopping with my mom and sister to look for shoes for both of them.  My mom found a pair (thank god because she is SOOO picky) and sister is still searching.  I also dropped off my wedding shoes because they are being dyed blue :)
Saturday night FI and I went out to dinner and then just hung out at home.

Sunday I had a field hockey game and then my sister and I went to pick up FI wedding ring and also shoes for my niece for the wedding.
  • See post below for my weekend!  This week WR continuing to work on our invitations.

NWR: helping host a bridal shower on saturday for one of my BM's and going to kickboxing 4 days this week!
Visit The Nest! BabyFruit Ticker BabyFetus Ticker
  • After 2 parties this weekend, house hunting, homework, and finishing up invites, I am exhausted!

WR: We will be mailing out all invitations that need to be sent out of the country. Tomorrow night, we're going to our second dance lesson (:

NWR: Nothing special really. I'm looking forward to a week/weekend of relaxing. I feel like I haven't done that in so long.

"Judging a person does not define who they are. It defines who you are."
  • I also posted about my weekend in another thread today, but the CN's version is that I got a lot of planning done, and then flew back to London, and now I'm jetlagged!

WR: Send photog our edits to the e-pic guest book. Schedule our pre-marital counseling. Send deposit to lighting guy. Call transportation companies we liked the best to try to negotiate the best deal we can get. Get final headcount from my BM's on who wants their hair and make-up done professionally so I can tell the salon.

NWR: Just get back to the norm. Ick.

  • we had such a great weekend!! fiance had a great birthday - two birthday celebrations, a birthday massage, lots of presents....
I went to one of my best friend's bridal showers - the hostess served cosmos out of this big iced tea-esque container and OMG they were so strong...after two of them, we were all extremely tipsy!!! so be careful about serving super strong martinis out of punch bowls...I did not intend to get tipsy at 3pm at a bridal shower, but all of us did thanks to the cosmos!

we also THINK we found "THE HOUSE." we absolutely love it...it's a little pricier than we had imagined...but thanks to my fiance's pharmacist salary, we actually can afford it. it's just scary to think about how much we are going to be spending on it! we saw it for the second time this weekend and we are both still in love with it and can't stop thinking about it. my fiance said he would be devastated if someone else bought it, so we are considering putting in an offer!!

busy day of work for me this week, but really, I am mostly stressing out about whether we are going to buy this house or not!!!

I am about to head out of here to travel and take a deposition for the rest of the day. I will be back on tomorrow though!!
  • We got SOOO much stuff done this weekend.  Checked off my list:

Centerpieces.. assembled and boxed up (this took all weekend)
    Altar flowers (2 large vases)
    Dance floor giveaway basket
    Bathroom basket
Washed and boxed up my cake cutting set and toasting flutes
Hairpiece (I'll PIP once this is done drying... I made it on a whim and it came out really nice)
    BM gift bags assembled
Tied rings on ring bearer "pillows"
Purchased frame and mat for guestbook instructions
Emailed BMs regarding shoes and accessories

I really wanted to get the invites addressed, but the stamps didn't show up this weekend, so that will have to wait.

Tonight I have my first dress fitting.  GULP.

  • I had my first dress fitting on Saturday.  And we ordered the Groomsmens dress shirts.

This weekend I am doing a make up trial and arranging for a mini bus for transportation to the Rehersal Dinner.
  • This weekend I got a TON accomplished, so please bear with me with the length of this post. :)

    1) My dress fitting went really, really well and I absolutely LOVED the black belt with my dress. AND I got the belt for only $25 because I had a $50 credit!

I also got the seamstress to pull the bottom flowery part up so that it hits right below my hipbones, rather than lower like a true trumpet. I like it much better with it this way. And she's going to add a bit of a more modified sweetheart neckline to the dress, but it'll still be a soft modified sweetheart, not a full sweetheart.

I'm not obsessed with the bustle, but it's basically the only one she could do because of how intricate and heavy the bottom of the dress is.

Here are a few pictures from the fitting:

You can see the belt and train! I'll only put on the belt during the reception:

Here you can see the feather flower I bought for my hair:

Here's the bustle (I don't love it, but whatever).

    2) We got my mom's rehearsal dinner dress from Neiman Marcus - it's a Badgley Mischka spring collection dress. I'll see if I can find a picture if anyone is looking for one. It's yellow and white with an interesting peplum on it.

    3) My mom bought my lingerie and robe for the wedding day/night from Neiman Marcus (she said the mother was supposed to buy these, which I thought was weird, but she said that's what her mom did . . . so . . . anyway . . . lol).

I also bought Hanky Pankys that say "BRIDE" on them! They are adorable. I had already purchased the BRIDE Lacies from VS, so I'll just wear those for the rehearsal :)

    4) I bought my BMs earrings to go with their robes for their gifts (which I got in sale for $30 each, rather than $55 each!). They are gorgeous oval gold filligree earrings with very small rhinestones surrounding the oval.

    5) Purchased the guest book from Modern Shabby. Good thing I planned ahead because she said it would be "no later than July 10th" when she sends it. . . ok, so hopefully NOT as late as July 10th but at least I know it'll be here in time!

    6) Worked on our announcement for the NY Times. Both of our sets of parents were in it, so we're hoping we will be (but I'm also secretly hoping we're NOT because lawyers get heckled for it on various legal blogs. ugh).

WR this week: Hair trial on Thursday again.
NWR this week: Working out. :)

SH*T! I was going to order from modern shabby. guess I should do so immediately!! (at least I have a little more wiggle room since I am 2 weeks after you....)

PS - your dress is stunning. it looks like it fits you really well!!! and you were right. the belt is adorbs + perfect for you. I love it. I am also having my neckline made into a really "soft" sweetheart - I love soft sweethearts instead of the super deep ones, I think that will look great with your dress.

PPS: do you have a link/pic of the Hanky Panky panties??? They sound adorable and I love Hanky Pankys!!

  • Hope everyone had a great weekend!! I had a great time at my BM's bridal shower on Saturday. It was awesome seeing her! She's getting married June 1st

WR: I finished addressing and sealing almost all of our invitations over the weekend. I was going to mail them out on May 1st, but since I'm done, I think I'm going to mail them out this week instead :) It will be a huge relief to send those out. Sunday is my bridal shower, so I'm super excited for that! FI finally got the information on transportation and our rings, so we are going to book our transportations and order our rings this week.

NWR: Just working, working out and hopefully starting my final paper for my class.

    Have a great week!

    imageAnniversary
  • @BridetoBe: Your dress is beautiful! I think the black belt will look really pretty for the reception. I also  like the bustle and the flower!!

  • Had a great weekend! Friday FI and I saw a great DJ and had a great time. Saturday I took FI to meet my super conservative grandparents and they LOVED him (yay!). Friday we also finally picked out all of our flowers and centerpieces/ table decoration for the reception. It feels good to get that out of the way! Finally finished getting the remainder of our addresses, but was unsucessful at filling out the spreadsheet so hopefuly I'll get that done in the next few days.
This week: Finish the adressing for the invites, reserve our rentals for the ceremony and day of transportation. Everything else will have to wait. Finals this week! I will be so glad next Monday to have the rest of the summer off :)

I LOVE LOVE Your dress!!  YOU look amazing and I do actually like the black belt with it (I was one of the no votes)!  Also I think it will look even better if you have the flower parts moved up!

I have also been told that the MOB is suppose to buy the wedding night lingerie which I also find to be VERY strange but oh well.
  • @Bridetobe - Your dress looks amazing! I actually think the bustle is really cool like that (much better than the butt-poof I've seen with a lot of bustles haha), and the black belt is a great addition for the reception.

My grandparents were in town at my fathers helping with some home improvements for my father and step mother so we took the kids over there for a bbq since we havent seen them since Christmas. Afterwards we took the kids to our other grandparents house and FI and I attended a housewarming party for our GM and BM. Ran into someone who we have been trying to avoid because of personal reasons and we actually got the apology we have been waiting almost 6 months for.

Sunday we took the kids to a large park here in town and had a picnic and fed the ducks. After dinner we took them to get ice cream for behaving so well.

This morning was insane! I think my son must have gotten TOO much sleep because it was a rough start. He whined and cried over every little thing this morning. And he slept the whole drive to school, about 30 minutes one way.

This week my son has a teeball game on wednesday but it is expected to shower so im unsure if it will still be going on. This weekend our only plans is my sons teeball game on Saturday. We needed a weekend off. We have something planned almost every weekend next month! Between teeball, birthday parties, mothers day, family reunion, BM bridal shower and bachelorette party, and camping, my bridal hair and make up trial, and our marriage license appt. we are are going to be very busy

  • Thanks, ladies! I was really happy with the belt and the flower should be good once I have the style of the hair figured out. Even my mom liked the belt and when I mentioned a black belt, she almost had a heart attack - "Black isn't for weddings!" - but she got over it when she saw how it will look. :)

  • @Bridetobe - GORGEOUS dress!!
"Judging a person does not define who they are. It defines who you are."
  • @bridetobe- your dress looks perfect on you! I love it! And IMO the bustle looks really nice.

WR: We had our cake and wine tasting and first planning session with our venue planner. And my mom was fighting with me and my nana the entire time :-/. I cried when when my FI and I were finally alone because I had built this image in my head of the way it would go and it wasn't like that at all. Then I felt stupid for crying over something so silly.

NWR: My FBIL and FMIL are staying with us until Thursday (that's a full week, people) and I'm about to blow up. We live in a big city, therefore we live in a small place. My FBIL is on chemo so we decided to give him our California king size bed (which of course I have ZERO problem with giving him our bed) and asked FMIL is she would share it with him so we could have the guest bed. She said she wanted him to sleep well so she would just sleep on the couch and refused to sleep in the same bed as him. Yeah right, like I would ever let you sleep on the couch. So we're sleeping in our camper. In our driveway. For a week. How is this my life?

It's really strange, right? I mean, it's like . . . buying your daughter the thing she'll wear to have sex. But I didn't want to pay for it myself, so I'm glad she did! Still will feel a little weird and hopefully I won't recount this story to fiance because he'll be super weirded out.

Meagan - I totally understand re crying after your first meeting. I cried IN FRONT OF my planner during our first meeting, because my fiance didn't like any of my ideas and my mom was getting short and being condescending to him, which made HIM upset and then I got more upset etc. etc. I've found that these meetings are more stressful than fun, so at least realize you're not alone! I am sorry your mom was being like that, though. That truly sucks and kind of ruins the memory/experience.  Did you figure out the flowers with your Nana?

  • BFJ- How exciting about the house. Hopefully it will all work out for you!

Bridetobe- Your dress looks great. I like the sash too. Thanks for posting pics. I was wondering if you were going to today.

I did a bit of shopping Sat & Sunday. I was looking for a shower outfit for my FI's side's shower. It's at his aunt's house so I didn't want to be too dressy. I finally found something at JCrew (I had been looking for a while.) Other than that, I helped FI work on the house for a bit. I also began reading the Hunger Games. So far, so good. I kinda figured I'd give it a shot.

  • Bridetobe - Love the dress and yes I've changed my mind about the black belt. I think it will be a fun way to change up your dress for the reception! Super cute! So glad your fitting went well. I'm nervous for mine once my dress arrives.

WR - Hoping to pick our sand colors for our sand ceremony. Super small detail, but needs to get done! Our wedding planner and DJ are husband/wife and they throw a yearly customer appreciation event for their clients at a local winery with food and wine and our florist will be there too. Fi has a softall game thurs night, so I'm taking my FMIL as my date, should be fun!

NWR - Stepping it up at the gym and going grocery shopping to get healthy lean protein/veggie meals for dinner this week. Under 90 days now means I need to get serious! Fi and I are going on a deep sea fishing day trip this weekend that I bought him for his bday last month. I'm actually super excited to go, I've always wanted to do this.

  • Bridetobe your dress looks amazing I love the belt and the bustle!

This weekend FI and I went to happy hour on Friday night and then went home and tried to start deciding on music.  This is no fun since we do not agree on most types of music.  My RD dress and chair sashes came on Friday too.  On Saturday I went to two jewelry parties and then watched the fights with FI. Sunday I had a birthday party to go to and then went shopping for shoes for my mom and ended up finding my earrings.

This week WR: Work on putting invitations together, call day of coordinator and get her scheduled, start working on programs, and hopefully find hair accessories.

NWR: I have 4 job interviews in the next two days,  get ready for surgery on my finger next week, and try to get some grading done for school.

  • This past weekend my FIL's booked the rehearsal dinner site. Super excited. it's one of our fav. sushi restaurants in LaJolla. It's not all sushi though. They have a great outdoor space in the back of the restaurant that is made up of about 8 white cabanas with tables. I think it will be a great fun place to have the RD. Now I just have to find a dress!

  • Happy Monday. Wooo.

WR: We MUST finish our invitations by Saturday - or else I might lose my mind. FI decided to make them wicked difficult..with us cutting ribbons apart..and gluing and ahh! DIY is so not my talent. :p

NWR: Between school and work I have no time to even breathe. -_- I am counting the days until summer so that way when I get home from work - I can relax and not have to work on eight hundred homework assignments.

Abuela-Related: Does someone want to adopt this old lady - because I am literally about to kick her outta my house. If she knocks on the god darned door one more time in the morning, I am literally hanging a "Do not disturb" sign out there.

I miss yall and posting here regularly. :o( I feel so behind with everyone's details. I read as much as I can though!

  • This was a productive/unproductive weekend for me!  I mainly spent the days on the couch catching up on television on our DVR's before me move!  I did get our invitations put together mostly!

NWR - Maybe I'm buying a house tomorrow, or maybe Wednesday?! I'm so aggravated right now and I'm really not sure if we are closing tomorrow or Wednesday.  Other than that the usual work/schoolwork/cleaing and now packing.  I think we are moving some of our stuff Saturday from our storage unit, but then again this up in the air.

WR - I want to get my BM's hangers done this weekend before we move everything.  I also hope that we close soon so we can order preprinted envelopes for our invitations or else we are going to be stuck handwriting all of our addresses.
