So all this talk about dress fittings in other threads has me thinking I might be behind.  When are you supposed to get your first fitting?  I took my dress home the day I tried it on, as it was discontinued & it fit like a glove.  It may need to be hemmed though.

I've heard 6 to 8 weeks out for your first fitting.  Mine will be July 28th, that was what the was suggested when I picked it up.

Where did you buy your dress? I purchased my dress from DB. My wedding is 10/13 and I was told that my first dress fitting should be August 13th. HTH. My dress fits like a glove as well but I do need a bustle for my train.

Mine is this Sunday, but I think I'm a bit early, but I wasn't sure if I could go in the following weeks. :-/

My first fitting is August 15th.  This is what was suggested to me when I call to find out when I need to go in for the first fitting. Maybe you could ask the place where you got your dress?

I was recommended 1st week in August for 10/11/12 -- but I'm going to my 1st this Saturday so that I can get a quote on how much its going to cost to do the major alterations that I need.

My first fitting is Aug 9th and I'm getting married Oct 6th. I too got my dress the day I bought it. Mine needs minor adjustments like adding in cups and taking in the chest. Also a hem and a bustle.

Mine was Saturday, but I have lost a substantial amount of weight since I purchased my dress. I just wanted to give them ample time to make the necessary changes.

I think it also depends on where you are getting your alterations done.  The bridal store where I bought my dress does not do alterations.  Instead, they give you the names of a few independent seamstresses.  I called the seamstress that I'm working with in April to get a general timeline of alterations and she said that she'd like to have the first fitting by the end of July.  Being that I live 3 hours away, I scheduled my first fitting in June when I was back home for a family party.  My next fitting is the day before my bridal shower.  I'm not sure if I will need a 3rd fitting.  I typically stay around the same size and do not plan on gaining or losing weight, so I wasn't too worried about starting alterations a bit early. 

I would just call and see what the alterations person suggests.

I was told to schedule my first fitting for the end of August for my Oct 7 wedding.   I would call around to find a seamstress -get recommendations if possible- and see what they say.

Mine is from Davids Bridal also.  My wedding is 10/6 So I should probably get on that huh? My dress fits really good too.  But definitely needs a bustle if they can figure one out for it.  They said it could be a problem.

Mine isn't until September 1st but my wedding is later in October, the 27th.  I didn't want to schedule it too early because I still want to drop a few lbs.  I've heard it's typically 6-8 weeks before your wedding date.

My first fitting is August 9 for my October 5 wedding.

My seamstress said 4-6 weeks. More if it's a ton of work. I'm going on the 28th so she can see how much work is involved and book a firm date for the first fitting.

My dress doesn't come in until the end of this month and the shop won't let me schedule a fitting until it's in. I'm going to be annoyed if I can't get in on a Saturday because of this, bit my first fitting will probably be in August; day of my hair trial if I can swing that.
