Sickly

OK ladies, so I got a sinus infection last month, but took Dayquil and Nyquil, which helped it pass quickly. However, I have still been stopped up, coughing (not constantly, but often enough) and very phlegmy. Taking Allegra, which seems to help during the days, but it's not really helping the "seasonal allergy symptoms" go away.

Any suggestions? I'd really rather not be this way for my Wedding day or the Honeymoon. :-)

Re: Sickly

  • You might talk to the pharmacist about the behindthecounter AllegraD. That added decongestant might give you the extra relief you're looking for

  • Try Musinex D (sp?) for your suffy nose and the phlegmy. I SWEAR by it! It will loosen up the phlem so that you can (gross) spit it out.

Also, take airborne and zycam for your immune system. Seriously, I have the worst immune system and these products save my life.

:( being sick sucks. I'm taking pre-emptive Emergen-C starting today to try and fend of any illness that tries to attack me over the next month.

But continue to take some sort of antihistimine with a decongestant. Some people swear by Mucinex, so you may want to give it a try. Although, word of caution that my doctor told me before taking it was that nervousness and sleeplessness are side effects that few people experience. I happened to be one of them and I was a mess. You could also switch to a different seasonal allergy med, I find zyrtec works best for me.

But if this has been going on for a while now, you may want to see a Dr. It may be time for some antibiotics, especially with a phlegmy cough. Feel better!

  • Thanks ladies! I went and picked up some Zicam to try, so we will see how that works. :-) I'll definitely plan on going to the Dr. within the next few days if my attempts fail. I appreciate all of your suggestions!!
