Invite ordering question

Got the final proofs of our invites but now I'm wondering how many to order. We are expecting 225 guests, many are obviously couples probably more than half if not more. Are 150 invites enough?

If your guest list isn't already in an excel spreadsheet I suggest you do so, it just makes life so much easier. I organized mine with names, addresses, phone numbers and then I had a column with the number of people were invited and another column with the number of invites I'd need. Then when RSVPs come in we'll add another column and put the number of people that are actually coming. We've invited 130 people and ended up needing 75 invitation sets. We ordered 80 just to be sure.

I agree with PP. Put each couple/family on a line and count how many lines you have. Makes it very convenient!

Follow the wise PP... I did NOT do this and have got 75 extra invites, EASY.  Some of it I can use for every day (our envelopes, for example!) but some of it is like, "How many keepsake invites do I need?"

Oh well.  People will scrapbook!

Another one here suggesting an excel spreadsheet.  Mine is similar to achiducks.  We have a column for the names, the number of guests they are allowed (as we aren't doing plus ones), the number of kids, the total number, the actual number, the RSVP number (this is incase I can't read their hand writing and can't tell who's RSVP it is, I can refer back to the sheet and say "So and so had RSVP #X" and know who it is), and then their address.

It was kind of time consuming putting it together, but it has saved us so much work in the end.  And as for the quantity of invites, we are inviting 154 people and are sending out 76 invitations, but I'm making 80 just in case.

I have 140 invited and only need 73 invites. But the invites are ordered in groups of 25 so we are ordering 100 because 2 extra just isn't enough... 27 extra is a lot too though. Oh well!

What everybody else said, I'm inviting 144 people and only sending 54 actual invitations. I was like you and was thinking I'd order one invite per person, and then a week beforing ordering it dawned on me. Saved myself some money!!
