October 2012 Weddings

Anyone else?

Does anyone else suffer from wicked baby fever now that the wedding is over?  I don't know why its hit me so hard all of a sudden but it has.  Our original plan was to start trying in March, around the time of cruise we were planning, but with DH's new job, we couldn't schedule the cruise!  Now we want to start earlier but DH wants me on birth control one more month.  He's appropriately nervous, but not so much so that we need to hold off.  He just wanted that one extra month to get used to the idea!

I want to go on a cruise, but I am not willing to push off baby plans for it!  If we can't go in March, we aren't going to be able to go again until after October.

So one more month puts me ending my birth control in late December and we'd start trying a month later!

Re: Anyone else?

  • MIL is suffering from a bad case of "grandbaby fever."  I had to go off my birth control for medical reasons, but we are preventing in other ways.  I am in no hurry to have a baby!  After spending the last year of my life buying a house and planning a wedding, I think we've earned a year to ourselves.

  • No more than before when I'll see a baby or think about it and be like, "OH MAN I WANT ONE"... but then think about how much work it is and how I'm in no way ready. It'll be a few years.

  • We knew we wanted to try quick but I think that DH going back to work for the first time since mid-September made things worse.  We knew we couldn't start trying until he had a steady job and he is working in a bank now and its a really good job.  I started a new job as well (at the same place) and increased my hours back to 40 per week from 36, which will put another $400 in my check due to an incentive that my hospital offers for those who work 40 hours.

I'm also trying to get things in line to lease a rav4 (and sell my honda fit).  I think all the prepping for the future has me wanting to start trying now!
  • I am.  Sometimes I feel like I am getting old.  We don't plan to start until next December.  We are hoping to have a house by then.  I will have also gotten a promotion at work, but I am going to be on probation for 2 years since is it a traineeship which is a little scary but since I am in the union, I have some rights.

We already have the car.  We traded in my Mazdaspeed 3 for a Honda CRV and it was the best decision EVER.  I love that car.  You should look into one Melissa.  We looked at a 2012 Rav4 and when I got in it it was almost an exact replica of my 2004 Rav4.

  • I would love to be pregnant by our 1 year anniversary, but it's just not the right time.  I'm (hopefully) starting grad school in January and H and I don't have good jobs.  I'm not working in my field (I work part time at a bakery) and H works full time in a grocery store and part time as a pharmacy technician.  We need to focus on getting better jobs so we can move first.  we live in a small, one bedroom apartment.

it's been really hard for me because in my head I always thought when I got married, I'd have a house and be able to have a baby whenever I wanted.  but we can't afford either of those things for quite awhile.

I know I'm sill young (23) and to be patient, but it's hard

  • I wouldn't say I have baby fever per say, but H & I do have plans to "stop preventing" soon (possibly this spring). We have been trying to close on our house since July. Once we're settled in, we'll consider it all more. We've been together 8 years and I'd prefer to be pregnant before I'm 30 (28 now).

  • Since we are older we decided to start trying after the honeymoon.  I do have a bit of baby fever, but I'm trying to be calm about it.   I have PCOS, so if it doesn't happy naturally by the spring we are going to see a specialist about it (we have that all planned out already with my OB-GYN).

We are planning on going to Italy in May (probably our last pre-baby big vacation) and I'm sort of hoping that I don't get knocked up for a couple of more months so that I'm not super preggers during the vacation.

DH is super excited about having a baby and got all hopefully once this summer when I mentioned that I was a day late.  He would have gladly had me walking down the aisle with a bun in the oven.

  • A close friend of mine just had a baby on Sunday and everytime I hold him I immediately want one!!!  Since I had weight loss surgery my Dr recommends waiting at least two years from surgery to get used to losing and maintaining the new weight, that puts us at June 2013 to start trying.  I have convinced H that I will stop BC around April and see what happens.  We are in the process right now of closing on our house so we want the dust to settle from that first.

    In Response to Anyone else?:

Yes it's awful, we both have it bad!! H has wanted a baby for a couple of years now. I'm currently on my maternity rotation in school so being around brand new babies is not helping AT ALL. It makes me want one so much more. I have 2.5 years left of school so we're thinking we trill try that summer. But if it happens before then, it wouldn't be the end of the world.
But I totally bought a onesie the other day and it's in the bottom of the spare bedroom closet.

  • It looks like I am the only 'heck no!' :)

I'm older though. I like that mine are so grown up! 19 and 12, I do not want to begin again. I even threatened our older ones (both our older boys are 19) that I am not ready to be a grandparent either! My youngest nephew is 3, and I'm good with these age ranges!

To those of you trying - good luck!

</div><div>Yeah...I get that about the maternity rotation.  I'M A NICU NURSE!!!  I spend 12 hour shifts handling other people's babies!  I have been dreaming about babies for the last 4 years since I started this, lol.

  • We are in the same boat.  We would love to have a baby soon.  We live in a 2 bedroom in a duplex and H said he would like to wait until we are in a house to have a baby but he recently told me that since we are not sure when we will buy a house nevermind where we will end up living (I would like to move more toward the Albany area but have not even looked into jobs up there at all who knows when that could be) that it make sense to start trying now.

I did stop taking my pill right before the wedding.  I havent had my period in about 5 weeks which is pretty long for me but I am pretty sure it is just becuase I am getting useed to be being off the pill.  I am going to wait for one more month  and if I don't get my period in that time then i will take the test!

  • Nope; not ready yet!! I love babies, and I definitely want them, just not yet!! We're thinking of waiting 3 years or so. Both of our parents were married around 7 years before they started having babies. We don't want to wait quite that long, but I want my first child before I'm 30 (I'm 24 now, so I've got time). We also live with a roommate currently to save some money. Aro, like you, neither of us have a job in our career field. Mine kind of is (I'm an educational asst. but have my teaching license), but we aren't making annnywhere near enough money.

Our roommate is dying for us to have a baby. I'm pretty sure he told people to encourage us to have them over the mic at our wedding!! MIL wants it pretty badly as well. She knew we were about to fill my BC prescription and said "You really don't need to fill that one!" If we can barely support ourselves, we can't support a baby!

  • DH and I planned to wait until we purchased a house (hopefully by the end of next year) but with my mom recently diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma we are considering starting much sooner.
