Frustrated - but a check all the same

So, I have been falling all over myself trying to make sure my Bridesmaids are happy with the dresses they'll be wearing. Mostly trying to make my sister happy. She wants a dress from DB. Ok, I can live with this choice. All four girls will be happy, my MOH is happy, fairly inexpensive, hurrah, color is ok....

Dress One & Dress Two

We will be getting them in Cognac.

Color is just ok, does not match the tuxes FI and I have chosen as well as another fabric I had chosen from another store. And I absolutely loved this color and sort of had gotten my heart set on it. Which is slightly more expensive and will never in a million years make my sister happy. Mostily because I like it.

So I am going with the DB dresses. Which in my opinion are just OK, but make the girls happy. So that's good.

So yay - big check done.

Ugh, make me feel better please.

ETA: I should clarify - I do like the dresses, I don't have a problem with those. It's just the fabric and color I am not too keen on. It makes the most sense to get this dress, sure. I just need a moment to pout because it's not exactly what I wanted. But I will most certainly live.

Re: Frustrated - but a check all the same

  • I hear ya!  I made a similar compromise with my sister who was a pain about the BM dresses.... in the end- I've told myself they'll look and feel better (which will make the pictures and the day better) if they're in something they like.   I know its not the best- but hopefully it helps a bit....
  • I like those dresses and if it makes you feel any better, I really like the color too.  It's unique and not something that you see often in a wedding.  Maybe you can tie in the other colors you are using in the bouquets.

I think it will look really pretty on the day of and like PP said, if they are comfortable, it will make for a better overall experience.

  • Oh I am glad you finally decided on your dresses I know in PP's you were having some conflicts with your sister regarding them. And I def. understand your disappointment.... but just think that is one BIG check!!!!!! And at least you and your sister finally came to a compromise.. (or really you compromised because you know your sis wouldn't) Try to think of the bigger picture ... and your dress is the most important!!!!!!!!! At least your girls will be comfortable like the PP said. And you decide the entire rest of the wedding and details so you no longer have to worry about ur sis's opinion... hope this helps!

  • TOTALLY understand your disappointment.

I've had my heart set on Alfred Angelo's shade of Holly green for months.  But we've only been able to find a style my sis likes at David's Bridal.  Which is fine, I LIKE their shade of Holly.  But I LOVE Angelo's shade.

    Pout away :)

  • Thank you girls! I needed that!

Rockstar - it's nice to have someone know how I feel, but sucks you are in the same situatuion! The dresses work, but I am not IN LOVE with them like I was the color and fabric I had chosen at another store. In the long run I know it is better this way for everyone involved, and one less thing I have to hear my sister complain about. So for that I am happy. But still, sometimes being the better person just sucks, lol.

I am so glad to have that out of the way at least! Getting girls together for dress shopping is hard, so one less thing left on my plate, yay! : )
  • Yup.  Getting my sis to put a dress on is what matters- so long as she is happy, I'm happy.  Just not AS happy, LOL.

I posted a few weeks back about how I wished I could be a bridezilla and just MAKE her wear what I want.  But I know that would be a disaster..... Soooooo I'm settled, lol!

  • I know! That is how I feel, my mom thinks I should just put my foot down and say it's my wedding this is what you're wearing. But a) that's just not in my nature, and b) it is so much easier and less drama causing to just let her do what she wants
  • This is way to funny !!!!!! Those where the top 2 my girls went for i hated the bubble hem and the shiny materials so this was what everyone finally decided on and all love

It still has the pockets and looks flattering on everyone and the cotton does not ride up nearly as much as the other two we are getting it in horizion blue
