Cake Flavors...

We submitted our cake design at the bakery on Monday and instead of having us stuff our faces with cake while we were there they sent us home with a sampler platter of each of their flavors to try on our own.  We made our choices and are going to do 3 flavors in our 4-tier cake....Red Velvet, Pink Champagne, and Strawberry Swirl.  Red Velvet was our top pick and is going in the Base Tier that has more servings.  It is also going to be the top Tier that we are having saved. 

I know this has been asked before, but has anyone else recently decided on what kind of cake and flavors they are doing?

We are doing cupcakes actually. But they will be apple flavored with buttercream icing with a caramel drizzle. So yummy!!!

We don't know what we're doing as our second flavor yet, but one will definitely be Cinnabon cake with a custard cream center.  Oh it's so amazingly good!

oooo sounds good... we are actually going to a cake tasting in 2 weeks! Our venue works with 2 bakeries and we already tried our " sample carry out box" and it only had 4 flavors in it and 3 of them tasted stale!!! i was so annoyed! so we are going to go to the other bakery! so hopefully we have better luck this time!

Ours is red velvet with cream cheese filling and buttercream frosting : )

We are doing chocolate cake with vanilla almond buttercream.  I fell in love with it at a wedding I went to years ago and have known since that day what flavor my wedding cake would be.  Our cake tasting was the second thing we did after booking the venue.  I LOVE cake.

Our cake is 4 tiers. Two chocolate, one cookies and cream and one red velvet.

warning to PP: make sure people know about the almond in the cake incase of nut allergies! my FI is allergic (don't know how much of the nut is in extract, but just in case)

But we're doing 3 flavors!! 

Base layer is a butter cake with white chocolate mousse and strawberry,

 2nd layer is chocolate with chocolate silk with Godiva liquor and raspberry, 

and the 3rd tier is a red velvet! and the anniversary tier is red velvet  

I like options  

plus it was REALLY REALLY hard to decide because they were all so good!

Red velvet, Almond, and one other...we just can't decide!  Going for our final tasting/meeting in July.

I'm not alone-- add me to the PPs who are doing red velvet with creamcheese frosting filling and and buttercream frosting. Just that, though, no multiple layers. I'm too much of a control freak for that, ha, I'd be worried, "What if someone really wants layer A but they run out?!"

My mom HATES red velvet though, so I'm going to buy her a cupcake or something to have. She's my mom after all, so she gets special treatment.

We are the odd balls who have not done any tasting!  I'm itching to though!  We aren't sure if we are doing cakes or cupcakes, but I'm sure we will have 2 or 3 flavors, with chocolate being one.  I doubt we will do red velvet because neither of us particularly like it or get what's the big deal!

Now I want cake.....

We're having a small cake to cut into for photos, but we'll be having pie instead of cake for our guests! Apple, cherry, pecan and pumpkin with a scoop of ice cream... yum! We'll likely do red velvet for our small cake though, since we both love it.

We are having a 3 tier cake with strawberry and amaretto cake. I think we are doing a cheesecake flavored icing. I can't remember anymore, haha. It tasted good.

We havent our cake testing yet other but we already have our flavours picked out. We're doing cupcakes. One is a pumpkin spice with cinnamon cream cheese frosting and the other is apple spice with baked apple filling and vanilla buttercream frosting. There will also be a small vanilla cake for cutting on the top of the tower for cutting.

We are kind of boring, lol... 3 tier cake, bottom tier in vanilla, middle in chocolate, top tier in red velvet, I think.

We're doing cupcakes in 4 flavors: chocolate w/ mocha buttercream, carrot cake w/ ginger spice cream cheese frosting, red velvet w/ vanilla cream cheese frosting, and pumpkin w/ chai buttercream...so yummy!

We are having carrot cake with cream cheese frosting with a cream cheese center! It tasted amazing!!

We are having a four tier cake

Bottom Tier - Chocolate and Vanilla Cake (alternating layers) with cookies & cream filling

Second Tier - Strawberry Cake with Vanilla Mousse

Third Tier - Lemon Cake with Rasberry Filling

Anniversary Tier - Chocolate & Vanilla Cake with Rasberry Filling, Chocolate Mousse, and Vanilla Mousse

Our bottom tier is white cake with chocolate mousse filling, our middle tier is red velvet with cream cheese filling and the anniversary tier is dark chocolate cake with peanut butter filling (OMG soooo good). The whole cake is being covered in buttercream icing. We also got a free grooms cake made with the dark chocolate cake and peanut butter filling, but that cake has chocolate fudge icing. YUMMO!!

We are having a 3 tier cake all the same flavor, lemon and white cake, sounds boring but very yum. We are also doing a groom's cake and that will be chocolate.

We are doing cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory.  We haven't actually picked anything out yet but we will probably get Vanilla Bean, Godiva Chocolate and at least one other one.  Now I want to go for my "tasting"!!

We are doing just a small (probably homemade) cake. I would like that to be spice cake. That is just so we have something to cut in to. For guests we are having Apple Cider donuts. They are from a local orchard and are delicious!

Well since I'm not using a bakery...and its a gift from my aunt we're just going to do plain vanilla cake. If it was my choice I'd do vanilla and red velvet because red velvet is my FAV! But since the cake is going to be white iced i wouldn't want the red to show through. I may see if we can get a small red velvet cake or something...heck I may even try to make one with my grandmas recipe and somehow use that as the grooms cake instead of chocolate! I HATE chocolate cake!

 you do know red velvet cake is basically devils food cake < CHOCOLATE /> with red food coloring added?

My sister is a baker so she's making our cake. FI and I have very simple tastes so were sticking with 3 tiers, one chocolate, one white and one marble. The ladies doing apple flavor sounds delicious! Chocolate and peanut butter would be good too!

We are doing a small two tier with spice cake and cream cheese frosting.  My groom's cake is going to be vanilla with lemon filling.  Then we are having lots of cupcakes with pumpkin cake and cream cheese filling, vanilla cake with strawberry filling, and vanilla cake with rasberry filling.  Yum!
