Changing it up between ceremony and reception

In my many hours on Pinterest, ha, this appears to be popping up lately:

(That's not me on Pinterest-- this is, clicky-- but that's the first result as of now for that in the search.)

I don't think I'm going to do exactly that (thus why I didn't pin it), but now I'm kind of obsessed with the idea of changing something up between the ceremony and reception-- switching up jewelry, a new accessory, etc. I have no idea what I'll do, and possibly nothing, but figured I'd ask if anyone here was doing anything like that? Even switching dresses?

Re: Changing it up between ceremony and reception

  • I'm taking my veil off and bustling the dress, but that's it.  I love my dress too much to change into something else.

  • I was going to maybe switch out my sash on my dress, but that was before I realized how expensive they are.

I will only be removing the veil and bustling the dress.
  • I've never really understood the idea of a reception dress because you are already spending a boatload on a dress.  Now if you are just talking about jewelry, I think that could be cute, but I doubt many people other than your VIPs will notice it.  My vote is to just keep with the "traditional" bustling of the dress and removal of veil (which I'm doing too), and not spend extra on something else.  But if you have your heart set on it, knock your socks off!

  • Veil is coming off, hair is going down and my white cowboy hat is going on.

  • I'm another for veil removal and dress bustling. But, I do like the jewelry idea, even though I probably won't do it.

  • i'm just taking offmy bright red lipstick...thats it!  i agree that you should do something if you want to. maybe a comfy pair of shoes, a really bold hair accesory, chunky bracelets...i think it depends on the style of your dress and what you are comfortable with.  a bride of mine removed her veil, undid her hair style and swept it to the side with a sparkyl clip.  but she also took out the clip later on adn just had gorgeous waves.

  • Cute ideas! I don't know if I do necessarily think I will end up doing something, but another fun thing to think about. :) But yeah, for me, I never understood the dress-switch idea, but to each their own! Jewelry or a sash or something, though, I may keep toying with.

and i got them on ebay brand new for under $10 each so i am gonna try to wear one of them- i have to talk to my hairdresser as in switching it wont totally ruin my hairstyle! < she will be there as a guest anyway so she could switch it for me! />
  • I'm removing my chapel length veil...talking with my hairstylist about a hair change from all up to half up half down. And of course bustling my dress. The hair change will be decided when we do my hair trial closer to the wedding. I want the veil to come from underneath so we have to sort out a way that when the veil comes out the only some of the hair comes down.

  • I went to my friend's wedding a few weeks ago and her hair was all down for the ceremony and for the reception, it was all up.  It was a cute change.  You could do something like that too.
  • I plan on adding a chunky necklace for the reception!
