October 2012 Weddings

1st fitting was yesterday...

And it looked great! I was so nervous how it would fit since I could only try on the sample size at the bridal salon.

I am actually surprised that it will have to be taken in the the bust and have to be hemmed quite a bit as I am 5'11 and am well blessed in on top!  With those alterations and a bustle I am looking at about $285 in alterations...ouch.

Oh well, we are all on the home strech now!!  Have any of you had any 2nd/final fittings? What were they like?

  • I should have my final fitting soon. I'm not concerned because they only alteration needed was adding the bustle, I have a corset back and trimmed down to where I wanted to be for it to fit the way I wanted. I can't wait to get it back!
It doesn't have to be perfect to be everything I want!

  • I had my second fitting a few weeks ago and I need to schedule my 3rd for a weekend that we're going to be back in our hometown in Sept.

Since my dress is all lace, she just did a basting hem to make sure that the length was correct. I guess she doesn't like to cut lace unless she is 100% sure that it's the correct length.  She also had to add more points to my bustle and raise the top point of the bustle slightly.  She also did a basting stitch where she took it in at the top...luckily she did because she took it in too much and now the dress won't zip at the top (even with pulling the inner corset in REALLY tight LOL).  I know that I didn't gain weight, so she must have measured that wrong.  It's an easy fix, so I'm not too concerned.

Hopefully, the 3rd fitting will be the last and then the dress can go back to the store where I bought it for final steaming and packing for the wedding!

  • I'm so excited for you all!
Wow, well, I ended up buying a 2nd dress after realizing I didn't LOVE the first one.  So, it isn't scheduled to ship until the 2nd week of Sept.!  I'm so excited to see it and get it fitted.

We are all certainly in the home stretch! :)
  • I had my first fitting yesterday. $440! Ouch! It needed taken in, i'm having cups added, the front hemmed and there are 17 bustles, yes 17, bustles. God bles my mother because she's gonna be the one tying them all....lol
