Wedding Day Jewelry?

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I can't recall, so I thought I would start a post!

What jewelry are you planning to wear on your wedding day?
If you have any fun pieces picked out, please post pictures!!

I am currently trying to figure out what my game plan is. I usually love necklaces, but my gown is one-shouldered, and I am afraid a necklace would look odd.

I am considering having my wedding day gift from fiance be a nice blingy pair of earrings, and I might order myself a fun bracelet.

Re: Wedding Day Jewelry?

  • I am wearing pearls. In fact my entire bridal party is. I am wearing them because they belonged to my grandmother and it is important to me to have something of hers at the wedding. My earings, which are pearls, are mine, but sentimental. They were given to me by my cousin after she took a trip to the same place in Spain that my Grandma got her set. When my grandma went she got sets for my mom and her sisters, and earings for my cousin. I wasn't born yet. My cousin went not long after my grandma died and bought me earings so I could have a piece like theirs.

As for the rest of bridal party, well my mom and sister will also be wearing pearls from these sets. And my other BM just got a set of pearls from China she wanted to wear. So even though I didn't tell them to coordinate my other BM is going to borrow pearls from us since it would silly if she was the only one not wearing them.

I found a pair of drop earrings from Saks that I adore. http://images.saksfifthavenue.com/images/products/04/569/1401/0456914019643/0456914019643R_300x400.jpg

I will probably purchase those and a dainty bracelet because I'm contemplating doing a very skinny belt with my dress to add a little something extra and don't want to overdo it.

    What do you guys think?

    Here's dress:

    Here's belt:

    Opinions? Be honest.

For bmaids, I am buying them these to wear: http://pinterest.com/pin/112801165636715674/

@Bridetobe I think that because you have so much going on on the bottom half of your dress I think the belt might be too much. I love your earrings though.

  • I don't think you should wear a necklace with a one shouldered dress. I think it would look odd as well. I'm just wearing earrings, I've never been a necklace girl. These (clicky) are similar to mine, but mine hang lower and the teardrop is smaller. Mine are more dangly but they're made by the same person on Etsy so they are very similar.

Thanks for the opinion! I've been going back and forth. I may try one on when the dress comes in, just to see how it looks, but I will probably not end up wearing one.

  • bridetobe, i think you need to just try on the belt with your dress.  i am also worried that it MIGHT be too much going on, but it seems like the belt is super skinny, so it might be a nice small splash of "bling". i would really want to see how it looked on the dress before i decided one way or the other!

PS when i was a newbie poster i remember seeing your dress and drooling over how gorgeous it was. seeing the picture again now reminded me of that. sooo gorgeous.   also i LOVE LOVE LOVE those earrings from saks. who is the designer? i have been looking for something similar to those!

ceglare thanks for the feedback! i agree, sparkly earrings and no necklace will look best, i think, with the one shouldered dress.  i love your earrings too, i just favorited that seller on etsy!
  • I am wearing a necklace that is combined pearls and crystals that came with matching earrings.  Then I am going to wear a pearl or crystal bracelet.

I agree no necklace with a 1 strap dress.  Just do earrings and a bracelet.

Not sure how I feel about the belt with the dress I think your dress is pretty enough and has enough stuff going on with it.

The designer is Adriana Orsini (<a href="http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/ProductDetail.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374306424222&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524446233778&R=664293150998&P_name=Adriana+Orsini&N=306424222&bmUID=jmFdhsh" title="link" rel="nofollow">here's the link</a>). When I tried them on in Saks, they were literally the perfect length. She lady (obviously trying to make a sale) told me they were the "Saks wedding earrings" because she sells these daily to brides.

  • @bridetobe looooooooove those earrings!!

FI bought me a Swarovski bracelet for my bday this past year for the wedding and my mom bought me this necklace at Christmas also for the wedding:

My earrings will probably very simple because I have lots of bling going on so far.

  • I am wearing a matching earing and necklace set that my parenst bought me just for the wedding:

And then I found a really great silver and pearl bracelet that I bought at a local store
  • I'm wearing a necklace with a pearl that my grandmother and my mother wore on their wedding days. It's pretty, not superspecial, but meaningful. I bought some earrings that go with it.

  • no idea yet...i got my earrings @ target, but no pic..i have two different hairpieces i'm trying to decide on...& trying to decide if I want to wear a necklace or not...most likely not, I think my dress is enough..if anything, something small...oh & I got a bracelet for my MOH gift (for the march wedding, i got it early!) that I'm wearing in my wedding.
  • Butterflyjumper; I agree that the necklace might be weird, but splurging on long earrings would be perfect!
Little moments, I got my earrings from target too! Heres a photo!  and its just the earrings, not the set.

Bridetobe, if you are someone who likes bling, then Id add the belt since your dress doesnt have any. But it is gorgeoouusss, so I would be careful about it being too much.
    As for necklace, Im undecided.
My dress has a sweetheart neckline with a lot of beading and bling. (its alfred angelo cinderella 205)  So the necklace would have to match. Im also not a necklace person, but my mom really thinks I need one. Thoughts anyone?

    I love those!!!!!
  • I got these from Etsy because we're going with a subtle XO theme throughout the wedding:

I'm also wearing my mother's vintage diamond Hamilton watch (something old) that FI had restored for me a while ago as well as her blue diamond ring (something blue) which was the first ring my father ever gave her.  She passed away 11 years ago so I want to incorporate as much of her jewelry as I can.  I will more than likely use one of my sister's necklaces (something borrowed), but not totally sure yet.  I can't really decide on that until I have the dress in hand.

  • Bridetobe.. I actually really like that belt! If you're a person who doesn't mind bling (like myself lol) I'd go for it. I think you can definitely pull it off because your dress doesn't have any sparkles on it. If it did, it might be a different story. Anyway, I agree try it on with your dress to see how you feel about it in person.

Xobride, I love that earrings tie in with your theme!
