When FI and I got engaged, he asked if we could have his coworker who is ordained as our officiant, since they had apparently talked about him doing FI's wedding long before he and I were thinking about marriage. I had never met the guy before, but trusted FI's judgment and took a leap of faith. Now, FINALLY, after six months, I get to meet the guy who will be performing my ceremony! FI and I are having dinner with him on Thursday! I'm both excited and relieved, since I've been wanting to get started on planning the ceremony soon and I really need to know how much of it I have to write myself, LOL. Any tips or must ask questions for one's first meeting with one's officiant? We are having a secular ceremony, so anything related to premarital counseling or other religious requirements will not apply.
