I have two questions. Hoping I can get some help from other brides. My wedding will a DW to Niagara Falls, NY on Oct. 13 2012. I have already sent STDs, but now I'm wondering when I should send out invites since everyone is traveling to the wedding. On the STDs I gave our website info on it, but no one seemed to notice. Now we're getting questions about info and we're have been telling everyone about going to the site since we included places to stay and how to get there (car, plane, etc.) I was considering on sending them out early, but people might forget to send them back, etc.
Here's the second issue that comes to play on where they should stay. My mom and I have been looking into blocking rooms for the guests. Problem: we have to guarantee 85% of the rooms will be filled or we foot the bill for the unfilled rooms and neither of us have the money to do that. It seems ridiculous to me, but maybe I'm missing something. So we are not blocking rooms especially since some of my family members want to stay in a particular hotel and there are just too many in the area.
We are writing out a letter that could be mailed out before the invitations for friends and family to start looking into hotels and travel fares. Should we do this over sending info with the invites since some want to get a heads start on booking their air fares and hotels?
The question(s) are 1). when should invites go out? 2). how would you handle the hotel situation?
