How many copies are you getting?

Of your marriage license? I know I've heard something about getting an extra copy. I just can't remember how many or why. Anyone know?

We were only issued 1 marriage license, but once the wedding has passed we have to order the marriage certificate. We'll probably get 2 copies of that to be safe.

Edit: Maybe you're thinking of the little tear away part that you get to keep? With the Ontario marriage license there's the part that goes to the government that the officiant has to file, but there's also the part that they tear off and we get to keep until our permanent certificate is ready.

In my state we can order an extra one at the time of application for use to change name on all applicable documents (ie drivers liscense, cable bill-they need an actual copy inorder to change name, social security card etc etc)

I would probably get one extra. I don't remember having to give an original to anyone though. You may have to send one in to get your passport changed though.
