October 2012 Weddings

Is it worth it?

So it looks like we're only going to have a handful of OOT guests staying in hotels. Most of my family lives within an hours drive and will just go home.

Is it worth it for me to do OOT bags? I was planning on it originally but now I'm starting to think it would just be a waste of money.

Re: Is it worth it?

  • What were you thinking of putting in them?  Maybe you can just scale it back a little if you still want to do them but not spend too much on them.  I think it's a nice gesture and it would be appreciated, but it's also not necessary.  I guess if you have the time and the budget for it, then go for it.

  • I was planning to do a bag with a welcome letter, a bottle of local beer (we 2 really good local breweries), a hang over kit (eye mask, mini tums, mini advil and a mini bottle of water), a pack of crackers and an Etsy door hanger that said "Do not Disturb. Recovering from BRIDE & GROOM's wedding"

  • I say skip them and save yourself the money. We aren't doing any.

  • It's cute, but I've never gotten one as an OOT wedding guest and I've never been upset about it. Maybe just a bottle of beer or champagne and a welcome note would be less expensive and still make guests feel welcomed.

  • I would say skip it.  I've only gotten one once, and honestly we didn't even use half of the stuff in it.  Looking back I feel bad about it now.  I think it's a sweet jesture, but not necessary and I would spend the money elsewhere.  fwiw, all of my family is from OOT and I'm not doing it for them!  haha

  • We aren't doing a bag for OOT guest. I think we are going to try and put together a welcome packet though with maybe some brochures of local attractions and some local information. We have that info on the wedding website, but it would probably help to see it in their hands.
