hair cost

So there's a hairdresser that I used to go to before I moved that I absolutely loved.  She does weddings and is willing to come to wherever we are getting ready.  She quoted me for hair at $60 for me and $50 for any of the girls who want to get it done (I can't offer to pay for them as much as I'd like to but I'm obviously not making them get it done).  However, she needs to charge me $120 for travel.  I'm not really sure what to do about that cost...is that something that I should just pay the entire thing for myself? Or split it among the girls?  I don't know if it's fair to pass the cost on but I don't know if $180 for my hair is worth it.  Thoughts?

Re: hair cost

  • I booked my hair lady last week and she quoted me $50. I'm not sure about the travel thing. That sounds like alot.

The people I am using for my hair are charging either $75 or 85 i can't remember which(the other was for make-up) and they are traveling to me, but they charge a certain amount per mile that they have the travel. To me $120 seems like a little bit much for a travel fee. I am paying for the travel fees myself, but the girls are all tipping on their own.

  • We are all going to the salon the morning of for $40 each
  • We're all going to the salon for $47 each for hair and $30 each for makeup.

  • I know my hair is over $100 ($120 maybe) and everyone else's hair is like $70-ish. I'm not paying for everyone else, but its totally optional if they want to get it done. The hair/makeup person is coming to our hotel room for a small fee (not nearly as much as the $120 they want to charge you. I wouldn't pass the travel fee on to my bridesmaids. That travel fee sounds really high to me too.

  • im in salon for $65... IMO $180 to travel is too much. Depending on where you are located you could look into other places you would be comfortable with or that are recommended by friends.

  • My hair and MUA travel fee is 30$ unless 6 things are booked. If 6 hair or 6 makeup or a combination of the two are booked, she waves the fee. I agree with others that the travel fee seems high.

  • Hey

I had the same issue that you did.  I found some stylists that charged travel fees and others that didn't.  I felt that it was on me to pay for their travel fees since some did and other didn't I kept loooking for a stylist who did not charge travel fees.  I hope this helps but I can definitely tell you that it is a pain looking for the one that makes you happy.
