yet another rsvp gripe!

Ok this has to be my LEAST favourite part of this whole thing! I am seriously about to explode!!!!! I have invited 74 people and my rsvp deadline is only 6 days away and i am still waiting for 22 replies!!!! And to make things even better the reseption space had messed up and told me the wrong amount of people for the space, origional told 60 now told 54 is pushing it! The numbers have been ok and it looks like we will be at max.......until now when 3 of my cousins have desided that it was ok for them to invite their kids!!!! That is 3 other bodies that we dont have room for!!! Hiw do i go about telling them no without causing a rift???....i hate this! Weddings are supposed to bring families together...not tear them apart!

Yikes.....you just need to call your cousins and say, "I'm sorry for the confusion but the invite was intended just for you and husband".  I had one write in and we ended up caving, but we have the space.  It doesn't sound like you do!  The rsvps, that is annoying but seems pretty standard.  Ours is next Friday and I still have about 30 ppl left to rsvp too.

Perhaps you can tell them that the venue only holds so many and if you get enough no's they can bring their kids but if not you honestly just don't have the room. This at least makes you look accomodating.

I would just call and say what lwoehlk suggested, I'm sorry, but the invitation was only for you and husband.  Our RSVP deadline was yesterday and I'm still waiting on 38 replies, so I definitely feel you on that one.

My rsvp deadline was this past saturday the 8th and I'm waiting on 59 people out of 144 invited, and they're all family members except for 2! Very annoyed....

Call and tell your cousin that the invitation was only for her and her husband and that you hope to see them there.  If she tries to tell you they won't come without the kids, call her bluff and tell her that you'll miss them.  Don't suggest that he kids can come if you have enough nos - that'd be b-listing them and would suggest that her writing in her kids name was acceptable and not rude.

I'd try to talk to your cousins about the kids.  One of my cousins wrote in his daughter (who is 6) and booked the flight before I even received the RSVP card.  Soooo, it will be 197 adults, my FG and RB (who are my niece and nephew) and my cousin's kid.  I'm sure she'll have an awesome time.  Ugh.  Not that I don't think she's a sweet little girl, there's just not a lot of kid oriented stuff going on.

I never thought RSVP's would make me want to cause bodily harm to people I love!  haha.  This is ridiculous, we are waiting on 30 RSVP's still!!!!!  Come on people.  And I'm getting married in Vegas, you should know by now if you're traveling or not!!  GRRR.  My feelings wont be hurt, but they might when I call them and ask where the heck their RSVP is, I'm dreading it.  I just know people are gonna get attitudes!  blah.
