  • YES!  Well FI's is going to pay off a consolidation loan, and half of mine is the HM... the rest in Savings.

  • We are using all of it for the wedding/honeymoon.  FI did his returns last week.  I still have to do mine.  I think that I might have to pay the state.  Booo.

  • I put extra money in the account from it. FI's isn't that much so he is just keeping that.

We had hoped that FI's would be more substantial than it was but it will be enough to cover the band so its better then nothing.

Mine, hah, I'm lucky I didn't owe them anything.

  • I think I'm going to owe. I never count on tax money until I get my Notice of Assessment back.

  • No, neither one was very big, so I used mine to pay off a credit card debt, and my FI was very small so we used it for a garage door opener for our new house.

  • We will be using part of the money to pay for the cake and the rest will be put away in savings. :)

  • I havent done mine yet, but with tuition and whatnot I should get a fair bit back. I'm hopefully going to use it towards catering so we can provide more food and alcohol.

  • We haven't even thought of what the money will be used for.  We are 3K away from having all we need for the wedding, and the rest of our money is going to go towards a potential down payment on a house if we decide to buy in the fall.

We also haven't done our taxes yet either. Should be interesting considering we both have two states, schools, and other things. Not easy, to say the least.

I'm going to use mine towards tuition savings so I can go to grad school next year (I reeeally want to try and do it without any student loans). Last year FI had to pay, so hopefully he doesn't have to pay again. If he gets money back it'll probably go towards house downpayment, maybe honeymoon.
  • YES! no idea how much we are getting back, but I was able to claim the house, so im hoping its a nice one, waiting for them to call me to tell me they are done. Part of FI's will go to the wedding, the other part may go to a used car. He has driven his into the ground commuting back and forth to school and work for a while now, we dont know how much longer it will last....
  • YUP!  It all went right into our savings.  It's actually helping us to pay off everything wedding related sooner, so we'll actually have a decent cushion in the bank come the wedding.

  • I am....FI is not. Neither of us gets a whole lot back...his is paying off his truck 4 months early and mine put the deposit down on ordering my dress and that's all gone now...

  • Definitely going toward the wedding...and if there's extra, towards the family-moon. Don't know how much that will be yet, but it'll help. All I know is that we're lucky enough that we won't have to owe :)

  • About half went to paying off loans or other bills, the other half went into the wedding account. We're about 2 months away from being totally ready budget-wise for the wedding!!

  • A lwast a large portion of ours will. We still aren't sure how much we will be getting back...
  • Yes we did! Paid for the honeymoon and I finished paying off the day-of pieces from our invitation lady :)
  • FI usually owes money, and I usually don't get much back... So jealous of all you guys who are done saving for the wedding!  Good job!
  • FI's went right into savings (for wedding/house) and mine paid off all my CC bills. The extra amount we will be putting into savings by getting rid of those bills will equal the same as we paid out so its a wash!

  • I didn't get back that much this year, I am debating between putting some towards my cc or in the wedding fund.  It will probably go into wedding.  I filed on the 11th of Feb. and still haven't had the money deposited yet.  FI has his own business so he always has to pay in, at tax time and throughout the year.

  • FI's went straight into savings, and we are counting on using it for the honeymoon. I will get hardly anything at all, so I plan on just using that towards gas money probably, every little bit helps with the amount of gas I have to use! I'll get tuition reimbursement this summer, but that will just go towards my fall semester. Altho we may use a little bit for new apartment type stuff, we're not sure yet.
  • yes, the money i got back will be for the caterer, fi needs to pay his cc off, but whatever is left over should be going to the wedding, but just depends on whats left over. he didnt get much back this year.

  • Yep, luckily this year I'm getting quite a bit back again. I quit my job in late June and just now submitting resumes for a new job so my final income was half what they were taxing me.
