DOC

Our DOC is actually a family friend that is also doing our flowers.  They offered to and have done it in the past for some of their family weddings.  I gave my venues coordinator her contact and now she asked for her business license.  I'm waiting to go home and look over our contract, but I'm almost sure it didn't specify that the DOC had to be a business.  Are any of you having to provide that?  I don't really see how a DOC is on the same level as a vendor, needing insurance or anything.  Before I start to press the issue, I wanted to ask you ladies.

My venue didn't ask for insurance certificates or licenses from any of our vendors.  If it's an issue, I would simply tell the venue that your DOC is a friend, she does not have a business, she is doing this to be helpful and as a gift. I can't imagine it's any different than the venue working with your MOH or Mom the day of the wedding.

Our DOC does have an actual event planning business, but we were not required to submit any licences (etc) to our venue for her or any of our vendors.

The only vendor my venue needed the license info for was the caterer. The caterer will be using their kitchen space and they will be setting up the space so they have to have a final walk thru to plan out the space 1 month before the wedding. All the other vendors did not need to provide their info. The only other thing the venue asked for was to approve the invitations, but I'm greatful they did because I has the wrong zipcode, so it was good to have another set if eyes on it to review then before I sent them out. My venue is a small museum that doesn't get much wedding traffic.

My venue only required any kind of information from the caterer. We originally were going to hire a caterer, so the venue would have needed to see their health department paperwork, but since we're self-catering now, we don't even have to show that. My venue didn't even really care that we're having a DOC.
