Homemade Groom Gifts

It's 1:30am and less than 2 weeks till the big day. Suddenly it occurs to me today that I have yet to purchase/settle on an idea for a gift for my soon to be husband. What are you giving your groom?

He has watches and rarely wears cuff links so I was thinking maybe a bag of homemade gifts? But I'm not sure if that is cute or lame. Am I over thinking this?

FI really wants a pricey new phone, so I'm getting him that. He's been holding off on getting a better cell phone because he says he doesn't NEED it... so I figure, something he wants and will use is better than another movie or something. Eta: I meant to put in there, that you should do something he wants or would use. I really need to put the phone down and sleep :

  • This is a great post- I was just thinking about this yesterday. I'm kind of stumped also. I'm surprising him with a groom's cake, but I can't decide what else to do.

  • We're not giving gifts. I really don't understand this concept myself. I mean a nice card yeah but why go buy something just because... We don't even usually exchange at Christmas because usually if we want/need something we go get it. We just bought a house and are getting married...that's the gift!

  • We're just doing cards for each other.  We're spending a good chunk of change on the wedding and the honeymoon, so we're considering that our "gift" to each other.

I don't think there's anything wrong with homemade gifts.  They can be very sweet and sentimental.  I think they just need to be in your budget and something he could potentially enjoy.
  • We aren't neccessarily doing gifts to one another.  Love notes will be a part of our wine box ceremony.  But FI doesn't know that I did boudior pics, so he is getting an album that night.

  • I think it is fine to do cards.  FI isn't much of a card or gift guy, he usually prefers to surprise me with unique things, like dinner at a restuarant I'd never try, or new spices for my spice rack.  He is also hard to shop for, so I think I'm getting him a fall sport coat from LL Bean.  He can wear it to the RD, if he so desires.  :)  I th inkn a homemade gift is perfectly lovely, if it is something your FI will enjoy.
