things you nixed?

what are some things you ladies nixed because of time or budget restraints?  we nixed A LOT!

Programs
Pew decorations
Aisle runner
Escort cards/table number/seating chart
Alter flowers
A limo
A flower girl/ring bearer


I feel like there's more.  what about you girls?

  • we nixed FI building the cake stands...he was going to do some nice stands to go along with our theme of woodgrains (he is a custom cabinet maker) but he just didnt have time.We nixed doing decorations in the bar area of the reception too....and we nixed some of the decorations for our mock photobooth that was supposed to have a giant frame hanging for people to stand behind and take pictures, but we have ran out of time too on that.....

  • We didnt do:

    Programs, aisle runner, wedding arbor/decoration, limo, and probably more....

    I wish I would have not made as many favors as I did! I came home with more than half of them!

  • We didn't have the limo take us home at the end of the night, but that was the only thing that I can think of.  I think I would have also liked to have late night food served at the venue rather than having to move to an afterparty.

  • We didn't plan for any transportation, and I haven't done the programs yet, so we will see if that happens on our last weekend!  Originally I wanted tree slices under our vases on the tables, but those would have been super expensive, so I compromised and got small ones and woodburned our numbers in them.  Other than that, most things happened.

    I wish I hadn't worried about escort cards with the meal stamp on them since our venue made FI give them a talbe break down with names and meals for each guest...

    We did escort cards and I think it would make it easier for people to find things if we had made a chart too for people to look at, but we became pressed for time.  Also decided programs weren't worth it and most people don't even pick up favors.

  • KittennDave we're almost exactly the same! We decided not to do programs, favors or a seating chart. Not really because of cost or time, but for the reasons mentioned above: people don't pick them up and if they do, they throw them away super quickly.

    from the get-go we decided not to do church decor, STDs, videographer, any rented transportation.

    we planned for, but eventually cut:

    -tangible favours
    -cake
    -most of our reception decor (now we are just doing candles in different jars, sunflowers at each table, framed love quotes throughout and tea dyed linens)


    but we didn't nix anything due to budget...we felt like it was either too time consuming for us to make or it was not needed
  • Thre's some stuff that might get nixed this week due to time constraints.  Budget wise, we nixed passed appetizers in favor of displayed ones, but that was because I couldn't see paying $2+ per piece (not because I couldn't afford to, but I thought that price was ridiculous.
  • Nixed the "toiletries basket" for the bathroom.  Seriously, why do people feel the need to do that?  You're a grown-up going to a wedding, you can bring your own tampons and breath mints!

    LOL...this was funny!!!  I wanted to do this early on and everyone was all like....(what you said)  You dont need to do that....my MOH kept me editing my DIY list...thank goodness!!!!

  • I've still got 8 days to go and so far the only thing I planned to do and am not is the painted hangers..I tried twice and failed and gave up. I still have to put my card box together..its all ready to go and the only thing I still need to buy is fabric to upholster the top. We chose not to do programs, favors, or any transportation...but we never planned for them at all. We also didn't do a seating chart or escort cards or any of that extra stuff because we're just having a buffett dinner...I didn't feel the need for it!
