October 2012 Weddings

Our Photographer, Venue, and DOC are Famous!

So, this weekend I noticed that both my photographer (Elario Photography) and DOC (Christine Wheat, although they used her for full service planning) had a very high profile wedding at our venue (Hall of Springs), but at first they didn't say who the Bride and Groom were.  It turns out that it was the former governor of NY's (George Pataki) daughter's wedding! I wasn't a huge fan of this governor's politics, but it's still really cool that our vendors were recognized for their amazing work and that they got to work on such a high profile wedding.

The wedding was a bit over the top for my tastes...they turned an already beautiful venue into an enchanted forest (which honestly, I think took away from the beauty of the venue, but to each their own).

I did really like her dress though...probably because it's kind of similar to my own LOL!

Here's the link (<--Clicky) to my photographer's blog...it might take awhile to load because of heavy site traffic:

  • That is absolutely amazing!  I see what you are saying about it being over the top, but I have a flair for the dramatic.  You are a luckly lady to be working with such a talented team!

  • Nice!

We almost went with Renaissance for flowers, but Kevin actually didn't recommend them to us in our meeting.  We were quoted a good price for a lot of flowers from someone else and since she came recommended, we used her.  (and then my FMIL decided to pay for the flowers and increase the size of the arrangements, etc).

We are also using Premiere limo but since we are getting married at the place of the reception, we really are only getting one limo and its making three trips to drop people off at the ceremony/reception location, lol.
  • Wow, I am jealous! Congrats!
It doesn't have to be perfect to be everything I want!

  • @mbuckley:  I've heard that Renaissance is ridiculously overpriced.  Yes they do amazing work, but they also charge an arm and a leg for it!  We're working with White Cottage Gardens out of Amsterdam, NY.  My mom knows the owner, so he gave us a great price!

Yes, I feel incredibly lucky to have such a talented wedding team!

  • Wow, that is so cool!  Yes, it was a ver over the top wedding, but probably what's expected for their crowd.

This probably eases any fears you may have had about those vendors :)

  • Oh, no...I never had any fears about my vendors : )  I was so picky in chosing them based on their amazing reputations, that that's been the thing that I have absolutely no stress about : ) Our photographer, hair/makeup artist, and the venue which is a sister venue to ours did a wedding in a hurricane last year with limited power, and the pictures still looked fantastic!  If they can handle a VIP wedding and a wedding in a natural disaster, they can handle my wedding LOL!

The thing that I find the most ironic, is that that DOC actually quoted me the cheapest price out of the 3 that I contacted!  I actually almost didn't contact her because I was sure that she'd be way over budget based on her reputation. I guess I really am getting the biggest bang for my buck!

I also forgot to add that the hair/makeup artist that the Pataki's used (Make Me Fabulous) is the same hair/makeup artist that I'm using!  Again, I feel so lucky to have all of this talent!
