Tipping at hair trial question

I have my hair trial today, and i'm paying seperately for that and my day-of hair and makeup. She's an independant contractor. Do I tip for the hair trial?

I have my hair trial today too and am going to tip her as this is a separate service and not part of the wedding day package.  The way I look at it, she is still taking her time on a Saturday to do my hair just like any other client so she deserves a tip.  Good luck on your trial.  Hope you love your hair!

I tipped for my trial, same as I trip my regular stylist.  I know the rule is you don't have to tip them if they're an owner of their business, but I thought she was very cooperative with the trial and did a good job.

I tipped 15% at my hair trial. You have to remember that this person is (probably) going to be doing your hair on the wedding day. Do you really want them to have negative feelings about you that day?

I actually tipped like 30%. She had told me $65 for the trial but only charged me $35' so I gave her some extra money. Also, like achi said, I want her to have good feelings towards me and give me awesome wedding hair.

I'm paying like $150 plus tax for the hair trial and day of hair and makeup.  She's doing everything.  How do I know what to tip for just the trial, since it's a package?

If it were me, I'd tip $7-10.

I ended up tipping 20 percent to make the numbers work out evenly. simply Caitlin, do you pay anything at the time of the trial? that's what I would base the tip off of

I'm under the impression that I don't pay until the day of the wedding. $7-10 sounds reasonable.
