October 2012 Weddings

productive day!

went to the florist saw my sample bouquet and centerpiece!!! love them < pics to come soon... for some reason my phone is holding them hostage and not sendin them to my computer>

and put togther my invites... i am glad i went with a simpler design than the super expensive original ones i wanted!!! i only had to glue dot 1 piece into the other instead of this little monogram onto a backing onto the card then the inside also had 3 pieces that need  to be put togther! and that was tedious work!!!

question how are you girls addressing your invites hiring someone else? writing them yourself or using lables?

originally i planned on writting them myself  but someone offered to print the clear lables for me ... should i just let them? it would save me a ton of work  but i like how handwritten envelopes and i bought a calligraphy set... but then i am worried i will mess them up!!! what would you do?

Re: productive day!

  • Personally I think clear labels look cheap. I think an opaque label could work if it was part of the envelope design. I was going to do faux calligraphy http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/bestfontsforfauxcalligraphy but my invite company will print addresses in whatever font I choose for free. Id prefer hand written, but I like the option of computer printed on an envelope over using labels.
  • Personally I think I'm going to go with the clear labels but that's just because I have terrible handwriting and I don't have room in the budget to hire someone to write them out.  Love your invites by the way!

I'm also having a productive week.  I ordered my 2nd dress yesterday (My 1st dress was ruined due to smoke damage from a fire in the building next door to the bridal salon where my dress was).  We picked out our invitations, we did a second registry at target (first one was at bbb), we picked out the tuxedos, I sent in the deposit and contract for our photobooth, I sent out the paperwork for the DJ, finalized the cake, e-mailed the ceremony script to the officiant, and I finished my bridal shower guestlist.  And tomorrow I'm going to finalize flowers and centerpieces with the florist.

Lots of checks completed!  I have this week off so that's why I have so much time on my hands.  Laughing

Can't wait to see pics of your flowers and centerpieces!
  • I am printing directly on my envelopes.

  • I did wrap around labels only because the DIY kit I bought came with them. They are super pretty but the biggest PITA by far. Had I known how much issues they were going to cause, I would have handwritten all of them. Still using the labels, just bypassing my computer/printer.

  • Great job!  You got a lot done!!  I just finished my invitations last night, I hand addressed them.  I had intended to use a calligrapher, but then I miscalculated the 3 month mark (Aug. - Sept. - Oct. sounded like 3 months to me) - oops!  Anyway, they are all together and ready to hit the mail in July.

  • I'm using labels for the RSVP envelopes and attempting to hand write the outer envelopes. I might end up saying screw it and using labels for all. I figure the envelopes are just getting thrown away so I'm not real concerned about it. :)

Congrats on the checks by the way!! You're way more productive than I am!

  • I am printing directly on my envelopes for inner and outer, using matching fonts.

For the return address i used a personalized stamp i ordered.

    Congrats on the checks!
