Who to tip and how much?

Venue/Catering - include gratuity in final bill, so I don't need to tip anything additional correct?

DOC - owns her own business, so no tip?

Bakery - same as DOC?

DJ - works for a company, so he gets a tip?

Ceremony Musician - two people splitting 50/50, do they get a tip?

Lighting - same as DOC?

Videographer - same as DOC?

Photographer - this is the one I most confused about. I hired a photographer that ended up moving and asked another photographer friend to fill in for her. I should probably tip the replacement photographer (as I don't know if my hired photographer is paying her or if it's just a friend doing a favor for another friend). How much would you tip percentage wise?

Venue/Catering - no

DOC - not sure as I don't have one but I am thinking no since she owns her own business

DJ - yes

Ceremony musicians - yes for both

Lighting - no

Videographer - no

Photographer - that is a tough one. I would hope your photographer that moved is not getting any of the money you paid (unless she did your engagement session) and that money is all going to her replacement. Is there a way you can check on that? If your replacement photographer is just doing this as a favor (nice favor!) I would tip her.

Venue/Catering - include gratuity in final bill, so I don't need to tip anything additional correct? Double check this one. At our final meeting, I had thought our taxes and grat. were already figured in. Neither was. IF it is totally included already, then no, nothing additional is needed.

DOC - owns her own business, so no tip? I've read horror stories about some DOCs. If yours is amazing, I'd find a small tip or something. If she stinks, then I wouldn't.

Bakery - same as DOC? No tip required, unless you want to dip the delivery guys.

DJ - works for a company, so he gets a tip? I would- again, if he's amazing. Some DJs are completely awful.

Ceremony Musician - two people splitting 50/50, do they get a tip? I would

Lighting - same as DOC? Same

Videographer - same as DOC? Same

  • I didn't tip my dj because he was a big awful pile of suckage.

The photographer, you can wait until you have your pics back and if they were great the day of and you end up with great pictures you can send a thank you with a gift card then.
