Thank You Card or Email?

Hello! I had my 30th birthday/bachelorette dinner last Saturday. Four of my friends went in together for a gift card. Do I send individual thank you notes? Or would a group email be fine in this situation?

Re: Thank You Card or Email?

  • I did a thank-you group email for bachelorette and then separate notes for the shower, and it was mostly the same people. I think you could get away with email, but others may disagree.

  • I actually did the same thing. Group email for the bachelorette, but separate hand written cards for the shower.

  • Yeah, I am sending thank you notes for my shower. They didn't attend the shower, but brought a gift card to dinner.

  • When in doubt - Send an actual thank you note.  It is much more appreciated! Plus they went out of their way to do somethng special for you.  Go out of your way to do something special for them.

Go for the thank you note. Everyone loves receiving nice things in the mail.

ETA- I just checked Emily Post, she states that you should send a thank you note for every gift you receive.

  • I'm going to be the crazy etiquette nazi here...a group email is on the tacky side. You should send individual thank you cards. At the very least, very sincere individual emails.

These ladies are your best girlfriends and went out of their way to spend their money and time with you-which obviously they are your besties and loved doing it! Therefore, they deserve the time and effort of a handwritten thank you card. Just my thought. Maybe make it super personal and print a photo of the group and mail it with the card? That's what I did. A little goes a very long way on showing your appreciation for all that they're doing/helping with for YOUR wedding.
