October 2012 Weddings

Gahhhh

So I got my final statement from our venue last night during our final walkthrough.  There are a few mistakes, so I have to get them resolved, but I'm now to the point where I'm not sure I want to argue about certain things.....but then want to splurge on other things!  lol

Like they originally told us the vendors would be served kids meals, but it was then listed as pasta for them for about $12 more per vendor......should I argue over $60???  I don't know why I really would!

But the big thing is the bar.  Our cocktail hour will start around 5:15, and the wine & beer package is currently for 4 hours.....but I don't want people to not have drinks for over the last hour!  So I think it's worth another $250 to extend it.  FI also wants to upgrade the cocktail hour to mixed drinks....which would be another $300. At this point, with several thousands of dollars leaving me soon, those amounts seem so small!  lol  ~This must be another side effect of wedding planning because I'm usually really thrifty!

  • I would get them to fix it. There's still two weeks to go, if the wedding was tomorow I wouldn't worry so much.

I totoally hear you on the "it's only $300 more" bit. With all the wedding expenses it seems like $300 is such a small amount!

I'll definitely get her to fix the other mistakes, and I will inquire about the vendor meal change, but I still feel funny arguing over $60 when I'm ready to plunk down 3 or even 6 times that amount for my guests to drink more!  lol

Use that as your bargaining point! Tell them you're interested in increasing your cocktail hour and bar time, but are concerned because you've already been overcharged on the vendor meals and that makes you leary. They'll fix it.

  • Will do!!  I already planned to call her anyway because I was going to see if they would pass on any of the savings if we pay for the balance with a cashier's check (liquid funds), instead of CC, since that incurs a 3% charge to them.  Other vendors have let us do that....and with our balance, that is several hundred dollars!

  • What about just having coffee the last hour or see if you can do an extra half hour on drinks and then coffee, we are because the last half hour would cost us 1000.00 dollars, which is a joke if we get 5 hours for 2600.00.
