18 days and a sunburn!

FI and I went to SeaWorld with some friends yesterday and I got a crazy sunburn! Being a redhead I know I burn easily and I was applying sunblock almost every freaking hour and I still managed to turn bright red.

Positive note it doesn't hurt...at least not much. So I'll be spending the next 18 days lathered in aloe vera to keep it from peeling.

  • I've heard that brewing a strong pot of tea (and then lettign it cool) and taking a bath with it, or rubbing the bags on your skin helps tremendously. Something about the tannins helps.

  • Oh no!  I completely understand.  I'm a natural blonde with pale, well pasty (lol) skin.  It doesn't matter how much sunblock or the SPF that I put on...I still burn!

Good vibes coming your way for non-peeling skin on your day!!

  • I burned too, then got a slight farmer's tan... it's not going to look right with my strapless dress in 13 days. I bought some body perfection gel at Sephora that will hopefully help to blend the skin tones.

I am the same way. FI calls me a lobster and thinks is I get burned it means I can now tan. Nope that never works lol. Hes african american so he just doesn't understand.
I started to use burn gel instead of aloe vera gel a few years ago. If you put it on that night, you will wake up the next morning a little flushed looking because you did get some sun but no pain. Also no peeling!

I am the same way, super fair skin.  You're more than 2 weeks out, it might almost be better to let it peel and heal.  When I get bad sunburns, I'm usually red for 2 days, peel for 4 days, and then I look normal again.

I might have to do groundwater sampling for work the MTW before my Friday wedding.  I will be lathering on the sunscreen to avoid getting on face and neck sunburn.

Good luck! I hope it goes away soon!

<div>Ahhh, thanks for the info.  I never thought of or heard of using that!  My FI doesn't understand either...he's Puerto Rican and just gets darker!  lol.  As I have gotten older, my hair has thinned a little (it was always really fine, but I had a lot of it) and now my scalp gets really burnt too.  I have to make sure I always wear a hat.  lol</div>

  • If you get a weird tan after the sun burn goes away apply fresh lemon juice to your skin. The acid in the lemon juice helps lighten your skin. I got burnt on 4th of July and it left a weird tan so I did the lemon trick and it worked for me. Just apply it about half hour before you take a shower.
