1st dress fitting

Did you ladies have to pay anything on your 1st dress fitting? I have mine scheduled for 08/22 and am not sure if I will have to pay up front for anything. I probably should have asked her on the phone. I guess I'll call to make sure. TIA!

Re: 1st dress fitting

  • I know approximately how much the alterations will cost but she isn't charging me until I pick it up when all the fittings are done.

  • Mine isn't charging me until I take the dress home.  She gave me a quote though.  I would probably call her though because some people/places want some type of payment up front.

  • Mine was same as PPs: I'll pay after all alterations are done.  I did have to pay for the balance of the dress though (I forgot I had only put down a deposit!)

  • I did mine yesterday and had to pay upfront with cheque or cash at my next fitting. Since I never have cash, I decided to pay with cheque.

  • I did mine at a local shop, where I bought the dress, and also had to pay upfront.
  • I brought mine to a seamstress that doesn't work for the shop I bought my dress at and she said I could pay when I picked it up in a few weeks.
It doesn't have to be perfect to be everything I want!

  • Also a DB up front.

Mine ws more than expected, but I worried it would be. Does that mean expected? Lets go with more than I 'thought' I realistically hoped for!

I was very surprised my sisters was as high as it was. they found more to alter on her dress than either of us thought they would

  • I did mine at a local shop and I did not have to pay upfront, only when I take the dress home. I chose to pay half now, though.
  • I had my 1st fitting today (@ DB). They wanted payment in full, upfront. Of course they didn't mention it until AFTER the guy was completely finished. He just walked away to the reigster and waited. Surprised & Annoyed, more so that they didn't mention it than that the payment was due. DEFINITLY recomend calling ahead. Last thing you want is to be suprised.
