Registering

So FI and I did our registry at Bed Bath & Beyond today.  Holy crap!  I didn't think it would take that long....I can't help but feel bad about our registry because I'm worried people will think it's too much.  Like if people will think we're greedy because we put a lot of stuff on there.  We pretty much covered all of our bases and put a variety of items that cover all different price points so it's not like a bunch of expensive stuff....but I just can't help but think people will look at our registry and think we're just like "Gimme gimme gimme!!!" type of people, which we're not.  Anyone else felt like that when they registered?

Also, since we pretty much covered everything at BBB, should I still register at another store?  I always see people registering at 2 stores but I'm not sure I see the need for us to register at another since we pretty much covered everything at BBB.  They have BBB's everywhere it seems...and if there isn't one near someone, they can always just order online or just get us a gift card or cash if they would rather do that...I honestly just don't want to go to another store to do the whole registry thing again.  Haha.  So any thoughts on only having 1 registry?

Re: Registering

  • I felt the same way, but sometimes people will buy several little things or a group will pitch in for one large item. I was asking around (friends and family), but they had the same answer. Just put anything on the list you need.

I registered at 2 stores since not everyone shops at BBB, so I also put Target. Some of the items overlap, but I wanted to get the basics covered. Hope it helps.

We registered at BBB instore, but we set up our Pottery Barn registry online. I did feel a little bad putting things on them, but I know when I've been a wedding or shower guest I've always appreciated when I had more options.

  • I felt that way a little bit but I also remembered that for the more expensive items, even if no one gets it for  you, you can buy it at a discounted rate after the wedding.

If you've registered for everything you want/will need at BB&B then you don't have to register anywhere else.  I prefer to go look at what I'm buying and fortunately there are like three BB&B stores somewhat nearby.  If someone is coming from an area where there isn't one they can just buy online or pick up a giftcard at pretty much any grocery store.  They can also browse your registry to get an idea of your taste and buy off registry.

  • I wouldn't worry about it, as long as you have a decent selection at a variety of price points you'll be fine.

Plus I'm pretty sure BB&B offers a registray completion program and you can choose to purchasing anything off your registry that guests don't buy at a discounted rate after the wedding.

  • We are only having one registry. I think that is fine if that's what you want.

  • I was feeling that way as well, but the point was brought up that you can purchase things after the wedding from your list at a discounted rate, so that is reason enough to include everything you want. If you don\t get it from someone else, you can get it discounted, just ask the store.

Also, my Aunt called to tell me we didn't have anything on our registry like flatware, and plate sets that she wanted to get us, and we hadn't put them on because of the high price originally, but we added them shortly after we talked to her.

We are registered at BBB and Home Outfitters, just to give people a couple of options.

  • We are registered at Bedbath and Beyond and Kohls. As long as you have everything that you want, you don't need to register at 2 stores. Nowadays there's online shopping and stuff so people can always order online or get a giftcard if the store isn't convienient for them. Any one else feel overwhelmed at Bed Bath and Beyond?? Floor to ceiling stuff and everything so close together I was feeling a little crazy i must say! LOL
  • We registered at BBB Target. I love BBB but their bedding was so expensive so that's what most of our registry is at target comforter, sheets, pillows... I like BBB because they ALWAYS have coupons!
