name change SS card

What do you have to do to change your name on your social security card?  I know there is a place in West Chester, can I go there?

you can go to the ss office's website and find a location.  I just did this on Friday and I needed my marriage license and drivers license with new name.  I brought my birth certificate and ss card with me but the guy I had said I didn't need them.

I did mine in May at the West Chester office and brought my old SS card although I dont think I needed it, and my marriage license. I hadn't changed my license over yet, so that did not matter. I also filled out the paperwork before I went. Be prepared to wait!

I live in CC, and I highly recommend not to go to the office there. Their computers are always down, it's packed and the staff is rude.

I changed my name back in December at a location in Jersey. I brought my marriage license, birth certificate, driver's license, old Social Security card and passport just to be safe. I did fill out the form but the clerk didn't take it, she filled it out online while I was in front of her. I waited about 20 minutes total.

The clerk took my old Social Security card and ripped it up. I received a document with my name change confirmation there and my card in the mail about 2 weeks later. Since I didn't have my new card, I took the document along with my marriage license to PennDot and had no problem getting my new license. I had to fill out some special form but it was no big deal.

I also went to the West Chester office and it was VERY easy to change my name there.  Just have the required documents like others have said...if you don't have your new license yet, that's also OK.  Just have your marriage license and your old S.S card and you should be OK.

The office in West Chester is a little bit back from the road (it took me a while to find it ;), but once I got there successfully and on time (they close early) the process was painless.
