NWR-excited and nervous...

A few weeks ago I had a HORRIBLE week at work, where I'm generally a little frustrated and unhappy anyway. I went home Friday night and applied for something like six jobs, and yesterday I get an email from a bank I applied to that while they didn't ask for me to come in for the position I applied for the HR person who read my resume sent it to another department and THEY want to see me. I'm pretty excited but also REALLY nervous because I haven't had a job interview in six or seven years.
I'm having an issue trying to figure out what to wear. My weight has fluctuated in the last year and right now I don't have any slacks that fit quite right, and no shirt that I'd like to wear with the skirt I really like-so I'm going shopping this weekend for an interview outfit. Any suggestions?!?!
It doesn't have to be perfect to be everything I want!

  • You can't go wrong with a classic suit in a neutral with a pretty blouse. You could also pick out a nice skirt and oxford shirt. Those are usually my "good impression" professional stand-bys.  Also, my entire family is in the banking industry; they also say "err to the conservative" when it comes to dress code. :)  Good luck and rock it out!

  • I tend to wear beige or grey dress pants with a solid colour top and a cardigan that co-ordinates.  i aslso like to wear dresses because i feel most confident in them.
for my last 2 interviews i wore a dark patterned dress, black tights and low heels. and i got both jobs:)
  • Thanks for the advice everybody!

  • I would go with a skirt suit and a nice blouse.  It doesn't have to be a button down shirt.  I don't know if there is a Limited near you, but right now they're having a buy one suit piece, get one free (pants, jackets, and skirts).  They also have a sale on long sleeve button down shirts - $15.

    Good luck on your interview!
