QOTD 3/12

Are you planning on doing a trash the dress?  If so will you be truly trashing it or just getting it a little dirty?

Re: QOTD 3/12

  • No intentions of doing a trash the dress, or a next day shoot.

I've seen some that have been totally amazing, but I'm a sentimental little suck who would probably cry and feel guilty for torturing my poor dress.
  • Not planning on it. I want to entertain the idea of selling my dress.

  • Yes and it will be totaled. I want to wear it to ride my 4 wheeler.

  • I am doing a TTD.  I just want to go play in the ocean and lay on the beach with it though.  I have no intentions of rolling in the mud or splashing paint on it.  If itt gets a bit dirty, that's fine with me.  If the dry cleaners can't get it out, oh well.

  • I'm not planning on it. I had never heard of them until I got engaged and I just want to keep it white and beautiful.

  • Definitely not...I'm a sentimental sap.  FI and I saved the cork from the champagne bottle we popped when he proposed, so I can't even imagine destroying my wedding dress. It's a pretty timeless style, so maybe our (hypothetical future) daughter will like it enough to wear it someday.

  • There is no way that I would ever do that to my dress!  I just bought it yesterday and I'm way to in love with it to have anything happen to it.  I may sell it after the wedding though.

  • I've thought about it but I'm not sure. Probably not. I don't really know what I'm going to do with it though. I kind of want to just wear it around the house whenever I feel like it.

  • Yes, I really want to do this. However, I just plan on doing the beach thing or maybe a forrest would be cool too. I'll then have it dry cleaned.

I'm also thinking of having it shortened and converted into a dress I can wear for our anniversary dinners and then using the rest to make Christening gowns for any future children we might have.

  • There will be no dress trashing, I love it too much!
It doesn't have to be perfect to be everything I want!

  • No, i dont think i could bring myself to do it as cool as it may look in pictures!
  • No I might wear mine to a Renaissance festival someday :) However, I am having an outdoor wedding so I plan on being ok with the fact that it will get a little dirty.
  • YES! I am so excited for it!!! It'll be after the honeymoon. First I will take a piece of the back and make it into a pillow to keep on our bed. Then take a piece and keep it for my future daughters to have for their wedding (family tradition). THEN the fun part will come! Me, my fiance, and the kids of our bridal party (my two little sisters age 11 and 9, and my nephews age 7, 5, 2, and my niece age 4), and my brother in law (who is our photographer) will go into a field. I will wear my dress and the kids will paint me in the dress!!! :-) They are super super excited about it! That's all they keep talking about when we talk about our wedding. After I will sew each of them a painted piece of my wedding dress for them to keep. I am very very close to these kids so it's going to be such a special moment for all of us!
  • Absolutely not!! My dress was my mother's dress. We've spent so much time altering it to make it more modern for me. There is no way I'd trash it. It is way too sentimental, and maybe one day I'll have a daughter that wants to wear it or use part of it for her dress.

  • Last time I saw my dress, I literally hugged it. No destroying for me, though I've not decided whether I want to sell it, donate it, or save it for a hypothetical future daughter. (Probably not the latter, though. My mom has two wedding dresses and neither of her daughters wanted to wear either of them, so I'm of the mind that it's unlikely that my own child would have the same size, shape, AND taste as me. Though I wouldn't be opposed to cutting it up in 25 some odd years to make her a 'something old' though.)

  • I want to bring the dress on our honeymoon and get some beach pictures in it.  I imagine FI in a white shirt and khakis with me.  We are not having a beach wedding, so I would love some photos of me on the beach in my dress.  And who cares if it gets sandy and wet at that point?!

  • I could never do a TTD session!  I love my dress and have joked with all my co-workers and FI that I will be wearing it everyday after we get back from the honeymoon :-)  I let my co-workers know that I plan on making the office extra fancy for a little while.

  • Definately NOT. Some beach pictures would be nice but not even worth the damage that might be done. I want to keep it for my future daughter or even DIL-to be if I don't have a girl. They may not want to actually wear it but my mom has nothing from her wedding left..and so I'm at a loss for my something old.
