Printing invite envelopes

Has anyone used their computer to print the addresses for their invite envelopes? I am attempting to do that now, but the addresses are printing everywhere but the middle of the envelope. I put in the custom size of 9.5" by 6", but it's not working. Any suggestions?

Re: Printing invite envelopes

  • My invitations are a seal and send, so they got printed directly on the invitation. Make sure you adjust the margins so it fits how far down from top and adjust the size of the paper. For centering left to right use the "center justification" I hope that helps. It took us a couple tries but that's what finally got it.

  • I haven't started working on our inivtes yet, but we used our printer for our STDs.  It took a little trial and error before we got the addresses centered correctly...good thing we had plenty of extra envelopes!  On our printer, it was also really important to make sure that the plastic guides that you adjust based on the paper size were closed down really tight against the envelopes.  If they weren't, the envelopes fed through the printer really crooked.  Once we got the hang of it, it was really easy...it just took a while to get it all set up correctly.

<div>Yes! this too. We wasted one invitation because the guides weren't tightened down and it came out really skewed. It would have been in the right place if we'd had that right.</div>

I agree with all of the PP's. Sometimes just trial and error! I went through about 10 envelopes before getting my centered correctly. Luckily we have way way way too many envelopes, so using them wasn't a problem. Once I got it centered, I didn't move anything. I found the easiest way was to put the addresses in a text box and move the whole thing so the addresses stayed the same distance apart.

  • Did you create a mailings document?  I have Office 2007, so not sure if it's like this in your word program, but i clicked on Mailings, then Envelopes, then options and selected the correct size, but there is also a custom size option.  Then I clicked add to document.  I was somehow able to remove the full size document, but I can't remember how to do it.  It automatically inserts a text box with no border for the address, so you shouldn't have to worry about lining it up.

Hope that helped and good luck!

<div>This is pretty much what I did, but the address is printing in the top right corner for some reason. I did try moving the envelope so that it printeed from the middle of the printer instead od the right side, which worked, but there is no way to stabalize it so it goes in crooked. </div>

  • I just sized the word document to the envelope size, and used a text box for the address.

<div>Did you check the printer settings?  You may need to tell it to pull the paper from the tray instead of automatically select.</div>

  • Some how, some way, I got it to work...lol. I used a preset envelope size that was close to ours and then just moved the text boxes around.  Thanks for all the help ladies :)
