Dance Lessons

FI and I had dance lessons this weekend, before our Bach. Parties, which I am still trying to deal with and get over. Also, my mom and dad went, and who knew my dad could dance, so father/daughter dance is in the bag, and FI and I are going to practice every night when he gets home from work. Anyone else take lessons, how did they go?

We are using "I don't want to set the world on fire" by the Ink Spots for our first dance, and my dad and I are using "Daddy's Little Girl" by the Mills Brothers.

P.S. And no matter what I do, my ticker is still wrong, I have less then two weeks left.

  • Did you update the ticker in your signature code? Just changing the date in the ticker won't change it in your siggy. You have to copy and paste in the new code.

We took dance lessons, but we had 7 lessons. They were great and we learned a lot.

  • We're in the middle of our lessons. I'm not sure if I'm just dumb or what but it takes us an entire hour to learn about a minute of our song. I think our instructor just goes fast. We're doing a slow foxtrot to our song. It's exciting but scary. I just hope I can remember all of the steps. Thankfully we still have three weeks to get it right.

I took dance lessons several years ago for a wedding, so I'm teaching FI myself. Not that I'm excellent at it or anything, but if we aren't perfect, who's going to care? So far he's doing fantastically.

We're doing cross-step waltz to "Time in a Bottle" by Jim Croce.

  • We just started taking lessons! Wedding is on October 20...mostly we didnt just want to sway around on the dance floor. ;)

Our first dance song is Michael Buble "Everything." We're doing the rumba to it with a few turns, rock step, etc. We are definitely beginners but the lessons have been fun (but cost a fortune omg). We're going to practice a couple times a week at home--our last lesson is next week. The dance studio recommended we cut or fade the song around 2 minutes or 2:15...they said that's the perfect amount of time that isn't too long or too short. This also makes it easier for us so we dont have to learn as much.

    Good luck! :)
