October 2012 Weddings

Hm. I think I made my RSVP date too late...

My wedding is the 20th. I made my RSVP deadline the 1st. Final headcount is due in to the venu/caterer by the 5th. Did I leave myself enough time? Nothing that can be done about it now, but it is nervewracking  since I've heard back from just over half the invites. =/

While that is close, I think you will be ok.  I would probably start calling people the 2nd though.  If they say they sent it in, wait until the 4th and if you haven't seen it, call them back for the verbal rsvp.

My wedding is the 20th also, but our numbers are due on the 2nd.  I made mine on the 21st so then I would have a full week to hunt down the rsvps.

  • Yea, I found out after I did my cards I need a final count 2 days after my deadline... which is Saturday, final count Monday.

Pass couple days I've started casually asking people if their cards are in the mail.  Saturday after mail and Sunday I plan to call.

  • I think it will be tight but doable. Agree with PP, start calling on the second. You could get lucky like us. Our RSVP date was Monday and I only had one couple that didn't RSVP, I know that's rare but it happens.

  • It's definitely tight but like PPs said doable. My wedding is the 20th and I made my RSVP date the 22nd.

    Start calling on the 2nd.

  • When you call perhaps you can start off with "You may have already mailed your RSVP in but..."  Then mention that you need to get a total to your caterers/reception site in the next few days and need a verbal RSVP.

  • I think you start calling on the third.  You should at least wait for the ones that may have been put in the mail on your due date.  I'd be kind of annoyed if I dropped mine in the mail and still got called about it because you set your date too close to when numbers are due.  Hopefully you won't have too many people to track down.
  • well i knew final head count was due 2 weeks before so i set it for Oct 1st. but the final payment is due 1 month before so Sept 27. well right now it looks like we are going to be under our min for the quote so we will end up overpaying but wont know by how much for another couple of days.

See that's exactly what my reasoning was. Luckily my headcount and final payment are due the same day.
