Vows- Opinions please!

FI and I are very silly people so I want my vows to be a mix of silly and serious.  I'm not sure if they're too long though and maybe too silly?

Kevin, you are my best friend, my biggest advocate, my confidant and most importantly the love of my life. Like a true soul mate, you bring out the very best in me. I love you with every ounce of love in my heart.

Kevin, I appreciate your strength, your support, home improvement skills, and most importantly your big heart and selfless generosity.

I am so excited to be standing here, so close to officially becoming your wife.   To quote from the movie, When Harry Met Sally “I came here tonight, because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of the life to start as soon as possible."

I’m ready to start the rest of my life with you by my side.  And so today, as I become your wife, I promise many things.

I vow to always keep a bottle of barbeque sauce in the house and to try not to groan too much when you smother my homemade chicken franciase in it.

I also promise to watch your chick flicks with you like It’s Complicated, Something’s Gotta Give, The Devil Wears Prada and anything with Meryl Streep in it for the hundredth time.

I promise to make you laugh at least once a day and to never stop being silly.

Kevin, I vow to have patience, to never give up on us, even when times are tough.

I promise to always appreciate the sacrifices you’ve made for the sake of our relationship.

I vow to be faithful, forgiving and kind.

I promise to support you, to be your equal partner and your safe person for the rest of our lives.

Kevin, but most of all, I promise to love you with my whole heart for my whole life.

Re: Vows- Opinions please!

  • I love funny vows, I tried to get FI to do it. I was going to vow to let him watch NASCAR on Sundays and some other things, but he said it was stupid. : Anyways, I really like these. Super cute. There is only one thing I don't care for, I don't like the groan in there. I think maybe just leave it at "keep a bottle of BBQ sauce in the house" maybe add it elsewhere. Other than that, they are very good. I love laughing at weddings.

  • I think they're good, but I agree with fishin'! They're a little long, but they're very personal. As long as you don't think you'll get choked up reading them, I think it'll be great!! I had to keep mine short because I know I'm going to be crying....it would take forever for me to get through something longer!

They're long and very personal.  I agree that you should remove the groan part - it's a bit negative for vows.  I also think you need to re-word the underlined part in the following: "And so today, as I become your wife, I promise many things."  This just sounds a little off to me, but I'm not sure how to fix it. Maybe take it out entirely (just the I promise many things part) and just go into your first promise?  If you choose to do that, I would move up your promise to make him laugh daily and never stop being silly.

ETA:  I thought they were too much silly, so my suggestions above were to make it be a bit more serious - start and end on a serious note and throw a few silly things in the middle.
