Question about hotel blocks

I made a call today to a hotel near our reception site to block off rooms. The rooms are suites with a queen sized bed, full-sized pull-out sofa, and a kitchen. There's a free shuttle to/from the airport and to/from our ceremony/reception site. They are able to block off 25 rooms for me at $139/night. Is this a good price for what the guests will be getting? We plan on also giving guests the names of a few low budget hotels nearby too, but they will not have a group rate or a shuttle available.

Re: Question about hotel blocks

  • I think that is a good rate. Our rooms are 119 with just the 2 beds and a small sitting area (no couch). Our hotel also has an airport shuttle.

  • I think that is a great rate for a shuttle too, the local "Crowne Plaza" we are using is 110$/night with out a shuttle. And it's a basic room with one double bed or two full.

  • That's a great rate!  Our room blocks are from $139-$199 with no shuttle service.

  • I think that's fine! We blocked two different hotels- one is around $150 a night and is at a more "boutique" style hotel and the other is a holiday-inn type chain at around $115 a night.

  • I think that's a great price! I've been trying to secure hotel blocks for the past week. So far, 2 hotels are completely sold out for Oct 12th, 2 more have a few rooms available but aren't able to guarantee blocks, and another can do blocks on the 12th but not the night before the wedding (the 11th). Also, $179 and up appears to be the standard rate for Saratoga Springs, NY. I didn't think that calling about blocks 8 months before the wedding would be a problem, but apparently I should have started this a year in advance. Some of these hotels have been full since November?!?!? It's not like there's even anything major going on that weekend, I don't know why the hotels are so booked up.
