New Job in NY update

I started this week! I havent been on bc for some reason when I went on TK it attacked my laptop. Has anyone else had this issue? So I just got time to come on from my phone.

Anywho, so far it has been really nice here in Cooperstown, NY!! The weather is cool and it's so green! The town here is tiny!
To my upstate NY girls who are up here and gave me advice, I went to Brooks my first night. It was great!!! BUT the girl looked at me like I had two heads when I asked for sweet tea! Haha my friend said I should have just asked for some grits too. Guess that is strictly a Southern thing.
Sorry I haven't been on, I am afraid for my laptops sake! Haha I have to find a way bc last night I was so sad. The Internet at this hotel is terrible too. I am at a new one next week, trying them out to see which I want to call home for a while.

NY is a ways from FL! My goodness! I haven't traveled in a very long time. I remember a business trip to MN and not being able to find UNsweet tea Whatever the job is, and where the next day journeys - good luck!

Hahaha FI still asks for sweet tea EVERYWHERE we go.  There are some places that have sweet tea, but you'll usually get "We have raspberry tea" to which FI reply "COKE".  Mmm grits!

Glad it's going well! And yes, no sweet tea up here, most of the time, ha. Southern transplants I know just get tea and sweetner and go to town.

Glad you're liking upstate!  That area is very beautiful...I remember driving out to see FI when he was at Hartwick College in Oneonta, and the drive was always gorgeous!  Hopefully you'll still be working there in the fall...it's even more beautiful when the leaves start to change!  I think the only time it's not beautiful is the winter...I've lived in Upstate NY all my life and I still HATE the snow!

I'll ask FI for a few more restaurant recommendations for you.

I don't know Cooperstown so well, but in Schoharie (I think 45 mins) there is a place called The Carrot Barn.  They serve lunch and it is really good fresh sandwiches, salads and soups that are locally grown.

Also, there is a country store called The Apple Barrel Country Store in Schoharie that has a little cafe.  They are open for lunch and dinner (but only on Friday and Saturday).  Same deal with the food.  A lot of it is local and very fresh!

I've also eaten at Rubbin Butts BBQ in Cobleskill and it was pretty good.

I remember going to the Carrot Barn every fall with my mom and grandmother when I was little! I haven't been there in years, but it used to be so much fun!

Glad you are enjoying yourself!  Yup they definitely do not do sweet tea up here, unless you go to McDonald's lol.  The weather has been so nice lately after the heat wave finally broke. 

Will you be here for winter?  Last year we got really likely with great weather so this winter we will probably get hit with a ton of snow!

And I second nic about the leaves changing- they are gorgeous here.

I don't know what your hours at work are but you should check out the Fly Creek Cider Mill (very close to Cooperstown).  It is a cute little shop that has tons of samples of their products, a pond in the back with ducks and geese and a small snack bar that has good sandwiches and pies!  We go there quite often and bring friends when they are in town.
