Dance lessons?

Just out of curiosity...

Re: Dance lessons?

  • I answered undecided - I'm not a terribly good dancer, so I would love to take some lessons in the hope of feeling a little less awkward. FI, however, wants no part of it. Still trying to talk him into it, though!

  • I plan on practicing in our living room lol.

  • FI and I are going to do the traditional high school dance awkwardness haha. Neither one of us can dance and I am not sure there is an instructor who would ever be able to make us even an ounce better.

  • Our venue actually offers a complimentary dance lesson. Honestly it is more for FI than myself, I was a dance for 22 years, but he refuses to listen to me, or take it seriously..... so I'm fine making it someone else's job.
  • wow i am glad i am not the only one with a stubborn fi... He is a HORRIBLE dancer! although he doesnt think he is. i have suggested it over and over and he is like "why would we need them?" so then i have tried to make it not focusing on his horrible dance ability but saying we are both not so great dancers <so as not to wound his pride as much > but he goes "we will be fine! "

i have also tried practicing in the living room... but the dog jumps up on us and trys to pull me away from fi < how dare i not give her all my attention /> and fi thinks this is hysterical so when she isnt paying attention and letting us dance , he calls her over!!! ugggg its a good thing i love him~
  • We won't be taking dance lessons. Our DJ offers them as an add-on to our package, but it's just not really in the budget at this point. Like PP, we practice dancing around the living room :)

  • I wanted to at first until I saw the prices.  Its crazy expensive where I live! :-(
  • We are. FI is not good and needs to get comfortable with it beforehand.

  • I wanted to take a lesson or 2, FI wanted no part in it.  I'm afraid that we're going to end up doing the akward Jr. High Shuffle LOL!  We need to at least practice in the living room!

<div>We're doing the high school dance too! I don't really care about doing any kind of proper or fancy dancing. I'm sure I'll be a tad emotional, so I don't want to try and focus on remembering moves or anything. I'd rather just be focused on FI and being wrapped up in the moment :)</div>
  • We're taking the lessons - but we got a groupon for $20 for the lessons so we figured, no reason not to!

  • Our originally venue did not have a dance floor but now that we have one I would like to do a first dance :)
  • I love to dance and actually danced ballroom for quite a few years, but my FI wants nothing to do with it. I'm counting myself lucky that I'll get a few slow dances out of him, but I don't want him to be uncomfortable so I'm not even trying to convince him to take dance lessons with me, no matter how much I would like to do a waltz, foxtrot or rhumba!
It doesn't have to be perfect to be everything I want!

  • It was FI's idea to take lessons...neither of us really dance but he has plans for us to do a surprise dance and WOW our guests. We got a groupon and shopped around in the area. The place with the groupon would charge us $80/hr after the coupon is done...but we found an independent dance instructor who has ties with a different dance studio for $40/hr! Plus this independent dance instructor has like 20 more years experience than the girl we would've gotten at the other place.

I'm so excited to do this with FI now!

  • Some of you girls' answers are seriously making me laugh. Because it is so true about us as well. We will probably go with the high school awkwardness as well, but I'm not worried about it because we will be all caught up in the moment of the wedding day. I voted no, but if our budget was different I might have considered it (but had lots of fighting from him about it!).

  • we're doing dance lessons. I of course had in my head some fabulous dance number but well he's a bit dance challenged so I'm just happy he's trying.  He agreed as one of the few things he would do to make me happy even though he hated it.  Classes have been fun adn we love our private classes and since we're not really a mushy couple it gives us a change to kind of be that way, and good around and have fun at the same time.

  • I wish we could, and we would if we could afford it.  Unfortunately its not in the budget.
