Re: Registry peeking!

  • Awe that's cool! :) I haven't set out invites or anything yet and I don't think anyone knows even where we have registered. Honestly I have the cards to put in the invites but until you just mentioned it, I totally forgot I've got to put them in with the invites. Thanks!

  • I did the same thing a few weeks ago. I know the invites to my shower are going out soon because my Mom and Sister asked for the places where I'm registered. Exciting!
It doesn't have to be perfect to be everything I want!

  • I also just saw that some of gifts had been purchased, quite a few!!!
I asked (blamed) my mom but she said it wasn't her.  LOL  I still think it was because when we went to their FEMA trailer we weren't allowed in the second bedroom where they have a bunch of stuff stored.

  • I have been good so  far but peaked a lot for our e party lol
  • I peaked the other day and saw our food processor had be purchased I was so excited and then felt guilty for peeking, I had my shower a few weeks ago so some of the stuff has already been purchased.  And for those who haven't had showers, I know there are a few sites you can just type in someones name and their registries come up, know you can do that on here and my FMIL said amazon as well.

  • We had our first shower a few weeks ago and FI and I both peeked at the registry ahead of time. I don't think it takes away from the surprise because we put those items on our registry. The real surprise is the guest behind the gift :)

  • My shower is in a couple of weeks and i peek all the time. If my sister knew she would kill me but i dont care.

A couple of presents have come to my house and when i asked my mom if she knew who they were from, she was like "oh sh*t, those are from me, they werent supposed to come to you, but to me...." she was pissed, she called Macys and they had no answer for her, they couldnt explain to her why out of the say 5 things she bought 1/2 went to me and 1/2 went to her!?!?!?!
After the 1st package i stopped opening them tho=)
  • I've definitely peeked :)  We had several things bought after the save the dates went out, nothing recently, but I don't think shower invites have gone out, because it's not until August.

  • I'm a terrible peeker, but I don't know why I'm surprised-- I still peek at Christmas presents that are under the tree before Christmas morning, LOL. Once a kid, always a kid.

We had some purchased around by my birthday, and got those, but the funny thing is we had two purchased AGES ago, and they haven't been shipped to my FILs (that's our shipping address... our apartment building won't accept packages if we're not there, it's a pain in the butt to get them shipped to either of our work, so FILs offered to take 'em), so I have no idea what the deal is, ha.

<div>Please don't do this.  It's rude.  Those cards go in the shower invitations or the trash, not your wedding invitations.  Put your registry information on your website and spread it by word of mouth (through your mom/sisters/grandmother/aunts).  The people at the stores tell you to put them in with your invitations because they want people to buy stuff from the store; they don't care that you will likely offend your guests. </div><div>
</div><div>We just started our registries and put the information on the website.  I haven't peeked at them since I put the information up, but I know I will be looking at them once the shower gets closer.</div>

I think one of the biggest things I've learned in wedding message boards is this TOTALLY depends by region. I tend to agree, but I've never seen it done; there are regions where everyone does it, and thus it's expected. I'd say get a feel from your guests (your party and family, I guess?) before deciding whether or not you're sending out registry information with your invites.

  • I'm terrible.  I look at the registries about once per day.  FMIL gave me a gift the other day from someone who can't come to the shower and suggested that I bring it to the shower.  Ah, hell no.  I feel like way too much can go wrong that way.  I would rather keep it here, open it, write the thank you, and get it over with.

I was unsure of whether or not to send the thank you, but the woman dated the card for July 2012, so since she was expecting we'd open it in July, I will mail the thank you in July.

I've had about 20 things bought off the BB&B registry that I didn't receive as Christmas/birthday or engagement gifts already.  I'm assuming these are shower gifts.  My shower invites have been out about a week and a half and the shower is a month away.
